Viper phase new version?

Post by tetsujin »

Hi

I notice a few people talking about viper phase and the new version?

What's the difference between them?

I'm looking to pick this up but wanted to know which version was best to get?

Cheers
Adam :)

New Version is the only version. It fixes the powerup system.

Bit like raiden 2 vs raiden dx?

I read that the medal system is like dx etc and something to do with bombs :)

Anyone got a Japanese viper phase new version for sale?

It is,until you realise just what you have to do to score well, then it goes downhill.Sounds good, looks good but is nigh on impossible to colllect ALL medals.....bye bye score  From your list,Outzone beats this by a country mile ;)

It's a nice looking game, but it's not a high score challenge game. It's more of the old school try and see how far you can get, in the same way things like R-Type play.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but you don't "lose" points for missing medals in this game, you gain points by collecting more. Unless you're implying a perfect run...

edit: quoting lose because I mean it in the sense that "it's not all over if you miss a medal" like say, RFJ, rather than negative points

The key with scoring in VP1 is to kill every enemy so you get a 100x multiplier to your bonus at the end of each stage.

While collecting all the medals certainly will help your score, it's nowhere near as devastating as destroying 99% of enemies (50x bonus) instead of 100% (100x bonus). This isn't Ibara...

From what I've played on mame, Viper Phase 1 gave me a damn headache with all the flashing.

Casey120 got this one right. It was in fact nicknamed "Raiden in Space" and is the spiritual predecessor to the Raiden Fighters series :awe:
