Coins, service, or free play?

Post by Steve »

Which do you prefer in your home cab setups?

I prefer coin usage - Popping in yen coins to envoke the game is a big part of recreating my arcade experience (its also a great way to keep your roomates from greasing up the controls and playing without your permission ;) ).

I prefer the service button. I'm not interested in stuffing around with coins and I don't like free play as on many games it disables the attract mode.

I have small children and cats so coins are pretty much out of the question. I have ashtrays ready to fill with coins though. :palm: FREE PLAY it is. :awe:

Free Play where possible. There's usually at least one game that needs coins though. At the moment Daimakaimura and Same x3 and both are bum rape so I wouldn't have enough coins for any more.

How do you have space for cabs when you have roommates?

How does having small children and cats prevent you from using coins?

You don't have kids, do you? Children will put anything that can fit into their mouths and sometimes swallow it if you are not careful. I have to hide my 100 yen coins from my daughter. As for cats, they love to play with small objects and those tend to disappear "mysteriously". I owned 12 cats once, or should I say they owned me

I thought you kept coins in your wallet or pocket? How do you manage with the coins you use to buy things in shops? Why should there be any difference?

Typically, coins for home arcade machine use are kept near the coin entry on the cabinet for ease of access. Unfortunately this access is not restricted just arcade players and is open to all and sundry which puts children at choking risk and gives cats yet another reason to be ****! Also, why would I walk around the UK with Japanese coins in my pocket?

Cheese!

All depends how lazy I am that day. I do prefer coins.
And when I do end up filling up the bucket, I'm getting another cab. About $50 in after 2 some odd years, so at this rate in about 20 years I should have another cab. :palm:
