Pachinko machines

Post by Pyongyang »

I've recently become interested in these bizarre machines. Looking forward to checking out a real pachislot parlour on my Japan vacation later this year. However, I'm toying with the idea of getting one for the home and had a few questions.

1) Are they really that loud? Is it just the clunk of the metal balls that makes all that noise or do the mechanics of the machine itself make a blaring racket too? Does anyone on AO have one and does it do your head in?

2) I notice there are tonnes of themed titles, being a big fan of the Darius series, does anyone know if Taito (or a licensee?) made a Darius pachinko machine? I've been looking in to this for a while and have never found one.

I've had a Pachinko (Star Wars) and a Pachislo (Metal Slug) and yes, you'll probably need a volume mod.
Never seen a Darius but I'm no expert.

Cheers for the info. Never knew there was a Metal Slug machine. Sounds interesting! Was it one of those units with the video screens playing out some incomprehensible mind-altering anime cut scenes? :awe:

Hmm... a volume mod you say, there's a product to create and a market to capture there.

Volume pot mods are common with these machines. If you haven't already, check out http://pachitalk.com/"

I've been to some Pachinko parlors and they're deafening! So, yes a volume mod might be necessary.

Thanks for the great link there. Definitely going to investigate a bit more. Maybe see what actually playing one of these machines is like would help I think and after the summer think about buying one... if I can find a Darius one! :D

Didn't know anyone would have the sheer lunacy to import them to Ireland! :awe:

I need a Darius one though. Perhaps I should write a letter in blood to Taito and ask if they ever made one...
