This post has not helped my resolve to hold off on buying a MiSTeR either!!
Wild speculation but I reckon the fact these Japan type cocktails are pretty common + affordable as a project is making them more attractive. It's no fun dropping a grand plus on something that needs work, but a few hundred quid as an initial outlay isn't too painful.

Up until very recently it was Final Fight, but went back to Shock Troopers. Image compression makes it look awful :(

Replace a failing PSU in my Pony which was causing issues with some boards booting. Can finally go back to playing my favourite shmup.

Also had it in the cab some weeks ago. Very good and fun game, visually (nice scaling efx, colours, theme, bosses) and gamewize (& not too long). 👌

It's Ringedge on my multi too

It's a shame the Ringedge never had the multi like the TX3 did as I would of preferred it.

The front end is just a list isn't it?

TX3 image does it all (hundreds of games) but Pi 3B+ can do quite a lot of the older stuff & for cheap with a nice front end, Coinops Legends 3

Been trying to find a game enjoyable to play with the limited controls. 8 way movement is a little awkward.. The buttons are the main downside, the only comfortable use is with my thumb and index knuckle - the latter gets painful after a bit.

I am seeing improvement. Learning a whole new control method was unexpected

TNZS works well.

Every pub had at least one table top in the bar area or area where teenagers would hang out, I recall they would break down often probably because they always had drinks and ashtrays on them!

But they were always being played and games changed quite often.

It was not unusual for the engineer to turn up and fix while you waited, must of been loads of mobile engineers, a friend worked for Bell Fruit and was flat out fixing cabs and fruities at all times of day and night.

On my SC 19 I just add Street Hoop to Metal Slug X Metal Slug 3 and The King of Fighters 2000. It can be so much fun. Nice for when you have just a few minutes.
