Out of the ones I've played it's EspGaluda hands down. I wouldn't say it was a crap game just doesn't do anything for me.

It doesn't play like a Cave game what with the four buttons set up and the bullet time. Plus the music is dire.

My order of preference would look something like this.

Ketsui
DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
MushihimeSama
Guwange
Progear No Arashi
DoDonpachi
Dangun Feveron
Esp.Ra.De
Ibara
DoDonpachi Daifukkatsu
MushihimeSama Futari
Donpachi
EspGaluda

I just for the life of me can't 'get' Pink Sweets,i'm not sure what i gotta do to make it more interesting
(play it solely might be a good idea though as scoring system clashes don't help with playing more than one Cave title in the same week  )

I found DonPachi pretty uninteresting. Guwange and DOJ are my least favourite that I've played though - yes they look nice and sound good but the chaining is just not fun.

(Pink Sweets is brilliant, Chop hasn't seen the light yet)

The chaining in DOJ is extremely hard and unforgiving but it's the sheer difficulty I like. As soon as something becomes easy my interest wanes. Still no good at it though. :awe:

Have to agree on Guwange, looks fantastic (best looking game imo)but unless you got the eyes of a Chameleon, your never gonna master it

The obvious omission on this list chimes in with my controversial choice of weakest Cave game nicely: Deathsmiles.

It's a very good game, definitely, no doubt about it, but I actually find it too lightweight in a number of departments. The differing stage lengths makes for a uncomfortably paced game and it's just a little too cluttered for my liking: 3 stage unnecessary ranks, 5 unbalanced characters featuring awkward options, and one of the wooliest scoring systems Cave have ever designed doesn't sit well with me. It's the only Cave game I threw hours and hours into waiting for it to click, and it just never did.
At best, it's a nice game for beginners, but the scoring system should have been better ironed out and it just doesn't offer up the same kind of rush as everything else in their catalogue. Ice Palace on MBL is how the whole game should have been, and it rings frustratingly true every time I go back to it.

Cave Hori's:
Progear > Akai Katana (and I haven't even played it :) ) > Deathsmiles > Deathsmiles 2
Always outnumbered, never outgunned.

The first four levels of Ketsui are sublime, granted it's not perfect (pre rendered ****) but there are lots of great set pieces and enemy attack patterns that it's a joy to play.

The risk/reward scoring system is great fun and the music.... Image

The third level of Ibara is also amazing, almost worth picking the game up again...

Ketsui would be king among kings if DDP DOJ didn't exist. I think Cave hit their absolute peak with those two titles.

I found Dangun not much fun at all and would be my least favorite Cave game.

Galuda2, man that game is so pretty and nuts.
Galuda 2 < Galuda for me. Maybe I should give it more of a chance.

As for the others (best to worst):-

Ibara :awe:
Futari 1.5
Progear
All the others for different reasons here :)

You should,it's :awe: just much, much more difficult than Galuda.Having said that,I prefer the simplicity of the first one :)

:awe: The above is all a joke, Ibara is a very nice game.

For me it's off the top of my head: Death Smiles 2, but I will confess I have played it for about 10 minutes tops, and only the 360 port (arcade mode though) on a TATED screen really quick. :D

If I think about it some more, I have to go with Progear as I never could figure out the hitbox, but I've played that way too little as well. Damn it. I've really tried with ESPGALUDA II (arcade), and I **** hate it. It looks lovely, has cool bosses etc, but I really hate the patterns/"improved" Kakusei.

FFS :palm:

Galuda is too slow, then a silly spike in difficulty at the final boss. It's so stupidly easy till the final form of the L5 boss
