I suppose I prefer the slightly older Cave games (EspRaDe period).

Being a bit crap at Cave games, and only having the 360 ports, I would have to say (from an obviously personal opinion) that I struggled with Espgaluda II and Mushihimesama Futari on the scoring mechanic side. Too hardcore for me.
Espgaluda II I have particular difficulty with. :wtf:

Sorry. I'm getting old.

Now I've had a chance to sit down and play Ketsui for a good chunk of credits... I'm glad I've not spent the money to buy it.

It's okay. More fun and better presented than DOJ, more immediate than Galuda. Not my thing though.

I reserved judgement until I was able to play it properly :)

And then spent more hours on Ibara. Gave Galuda another go too, which I've not played since I sold it some time back. One credit then played something else. It's good but I've had all the enjoyment I'll get out of it.

Subjective opinions are great.

(Muchi Muchi Pork's still utterly brilliant mind, but the difficulty spike that hits on L4 is putting me off it at the moment).

Thing is with most CAVE titles though that they're not at their bests when played casually. I need to get back into playing ESPGALUDA properly.

I've not had a chance to play the PCB but I feel exactly the same about the 360 version.

L4 is harder than L5, quite significantly so. Once you crack L4 you will clear the game within hours / days. I cleared L5 / 1cc the game the 3rd time I reached it.

On Ketsui. I personally like it better than DDP & DOJ as the chaining is too rigid. I don't like Galuda very much at all, so it's better than it too, imo of course. I'm happy enough with the port. If I manage to 1cc the port I may try to get a 1cc on the pcb, but other than that I don't feel compelled to buy it again.

tetsujin wrote: Most of the other Cave games I have played on a cab or Xbox 360 I just have never really liked. I think for me its the way I like my games as I am a much bigger fan of plder titles and the only two 'newer' bullet heavy games I have enjoyed enough havebeen Donpachi and Armed Police Batrider and I think these are enough for me :)
This is similar to how i feel about Cave games, I like all that I've played but ultimately prefer Toaplan or Raizing games. As for least favourite, bearing in mind i've never played Pink Sweets, Muchi Muchi Pork or Akai Katana, would probably be Deathsmiles or Espgaluda. I've just never really got into either, I'm sure they are great games, but just not my sort of thing.

I don't know if these are weak titles, but the games I have no big love for are:

Feveron
Progear
Guwange

Just not my cup of tea.

I second this :P

I'd give DOJ the edge on Ketsui, but only by a whisker. It's the most sublime of all imo.

Yes, it shaves off a bit of the final score, but unless you die on stage 1, it's not the end of the world. Once you start to get to stage 4 on every credit (won't matter if you died twice on stage 2) it's sublime. I just don't get how someone can down-rate Ketsui as the bosses are INCREDIBLE.

Ibara is great!

Pink Sweets on the other hand is genuinely bad IMO.
