Like I said on shmups, looks like the tx2 is used as client hardware so there's still room for bespoke jamma pcbs. Plus personally I couldn't give a toss about all the modern arcade stuff anyway.

But cave, yes the heralded cave if they jump on it you won't be able to play the original deathsmiles 3 at home! omgs

After their experience publishing DS2 I'm not surprised Cave jumped on it (assuming that's true). Hey, they might even try HD, you never know.

It makes a lot of sense for the industry, I must admit, but this could be the beginning of the end for physical arcade software and the integrated PCB. I have a hard enough time accepting consoles going this way but this could mean an end to cheeky exports for home use as subscriptions will be for Japan only :(

It was always going to go this way lets be honest, if you look at other types of media and how they are distributed and obtained you could argue that companies like Taito have been slow to catch on. To an extent this is kind of what Sega have done with their new GDRom card system (cant remeber what its called), as it cuts out the need for operators to buy whole new systems each time and stops Sega having to spend loads on shipping the hardwear out also. I think this system in principle will be great for operators (no need to update hardware all the time) and punters (greater choice) alike in Japan and Taito (can easily monitor what games and services are being used and are therefore popular) themselves, but the reality of it hitting UK arcades anytime soon is not even worth worrying about.

would be amazed if they didn't use TX2 as op's have already shelled out for the hardware & Sega have used this model (net boot anyone) in the past.

The romz are so going to be on the market within weeks of launch if they do use TX2.

If MS couldn't keep hold of Halo Reach on their "secure server", what chance have Taito got stopping this getting out.?

It was really only a matter of time until something like this popped up. If this get adopted widely then hopefully it will result in more PCBs on the used market. They can keep their modern shait and their TX2s :D

This "secure server" thing is **** if you ask me. Every Halo game since 2 was leaked quite early, and no other games get leaked so early - more than a coincidence

well the sad reality is that companys have to evolve and cave can't keep making std res games as the machines are been phased out due to lcds systems !are they the one of the only ones making std res games these day's?

isnt there some 3d games /hardware supposed to be announced at this thing as well ?
