One more attempt at explaining this.
I've been saying "i-ba-ra".
Everyone else says "i-bara".

But is the emphasis on "stupid" or "****" or both equally?

Re: Ibara (Cave, 2005)
eee-ba.ra
Is the correct pronunciation I think, with a slight buffer between ba and ra.
What **** me off about Romanji, is that the pronounciation is of no use to the native english speaker.
If it were to be of use, they would replace the I with the E and it would be use hyphens and for other words maybe even accents, but oh no, you see an 'i' pronounce it 'e' etc.
Mind you, lets face it english is a mess with so much illogical stuff going on.
I myself pronounce it Ibaaara - pretty much as the second pubjoe option (I-bara), mainly because that how it's stuck for me (like how I pronounce Studio Ghibli as Gibli and not Jibley).
I think pubjoe's number one is nearer in that each element is pronounced with a buffer, although the I should be an E sound, and should perhaps merge into the 'ba'.
I could be completely off though!

'I' in Japanese is pronounced 'eee' in English (Romanji as you say Paul).
