I'm only gonna give a top 5, tbh.

1) Operation Wolf (If it's bloomin' working! My fave gun game EVER [Taito])
2) Virtua Cop (Shoot! Out! Side! The! Screen! [Sega])
3) Time Crisis 3 (It's a good rail shooter [Namco])
4) Ghost Squad (Killin' terrorists, great! [Sega])
5) Rambo (I wanna play it! No idea if it's good or not [Sega])

FFS, no Revolution X :p

There is no real order, but the following are essential.

Old classics:

Operation Wolf 1 (Taito)
Beast Busters (SNK Original)
Laser Ghost (Sega)

All the older stuff is the analogue joystick/gun mounted cab.

Newer stuff:

LA Machine guns (you'll never find one, but it is the biz)
Time Crisis 2/3/4 (not going to say 1 as it is a single player)
House of the Dead 1/2/3/4 (I love them all, as I am zombie fan)
Virtua Cop3 (not going to say 1 and 2 as they are pretty poor now)
Ghost Squad/Ghost Squad Evo (probably the best gun game released in the last 5 years)
Rambo (not played it, but looks like a good use of the GS Engine)

Not heard good reports on these:

Aliens Extermination
Silent Hill

If limited for space, a Uni gun cab, and swap out the games. naturally Lupin is the best gun game ev3r! Don't know if it would get played in an arcade, what is odd is Lupin got a release in Italy (as they are huge Manga/Lupin fans over there).
Say hello to my little friend...

Oh yes.

I never really liked the second one, but the first was quite well designed, even if the graphics are dated now. That's probably nostalgia speaking, though.

Aliens Extermination is the biggest pile of excrement I've played in a long time. I saw it when it was test loking at Casino (along with Chase HQ 2), and have given it one credit since (I didn't pay for - it was left in the machine!) to make sure it was still ****. It reminded me of some horrid port of Area 51 to the Aliens universe. It's a shame, because the concept of a gun game based on Aliens (rather than Alien 3) had such great potential (so I really wanted to like it - Aliens is probably my favourite action film ever). As much potential as a gun game based on Arnie's "Commando" might have! :D

BTW, Alan: If you manage to somehow source an Operation Wolf in good nick, I'll be coming over to visit this arcade for sure :p

cobra the gun (excellent and fairly unknown game, needs to be calibrated properly tho)
House of the dead 1-4 (all excellent games imo, 2,1,4,3 if you need em in order)
point blank 1 & 2 great fun especially in multiplayer, essentially the same game tho.
lost world - needs no introduction.

ed: i dont see why everyones raving about ghost squad so much, played it a couple of times and thought it was pretty **** actually :?

I've seen it, seems kinda average (dull pc-istic graphics). I'll have a closer look tomorrow during my lunch break.

In no particular order

1: Operation Thunderbolt (contrary to popular opinion, this IS a better game than op. wolf as it's not a coin trap.

2: Time Crisis

3: Time Crisis 2

4: HOTD 2

5: LA Machineguns

6: Beast Busters (Wot a classic)

7: In the line of Fire (This is a **** awesome Sega war shooter - comes is stand up and sit downs I think.)

8: Rail Chase (Technically more joystick than gun, but you'll never find one anyway. )

9: Op Wolf, jes for the classicness.

Whut? I was 1CC'ing OpWolf (on a good day) as a teenager, lad! :p I do quite like OpThunderbolt, but the cab guns (Mac-10 imitations) just weren't as good as with OpWolf (UZI imitations). Plus OpWolf felt like Rambo (as it should have)!

Ha ha! We'll have to agree to disagree - Op Wolf was ridiculously tough when I used to play as a kid. Thunderbolt had some smarter scaling, nice levels and cool between stage music, and was clearly do-able on the 1cc. I can't count the amount of times I got to the terrorist holding the hostage on the plane at the end and stacked it though. :x

For classic-ness, I'd give Op Wolf the edge, but on playability, it's Thunderbolt for me.

just dont get the appeal of Alien extinction. Its nowhere near as much fun as Alien 3 the gun.
Rambo gun game thats coming out looks **** great.
The Silent hill gun game is actualy quite fun if its got all the strips fall down and close you off (really imerses you in it)
Ghsot squad evo is also fantastic.

would be cool to see a virtua cop 3, but i bet it looks a bit dated :( gotta be careful of that if people are coming in to play it

HOTD 2 and up all make some good money still. Jurassic park is also a good money maker at my local (sega does good gun games full stop)

VCop3 doesn't look dated, infact VCop3 plays friggin' amazing on Ghost Squad guns, the gun has a weapon selector which becomes the foot pedal in VC3, works so well

I'd totally forgotten about The Lost World, that would be near the top of my list. It was rather hilarious watching Lordstar playing it and not being able to hit a thing. He got so **** off that he left the game to go complain to the operator. When I took over, I found there was nothing wrong with the cab, in fact, the guns were extremely accurate and it was probably just Matts gammy eyes

Whoa, I was totally in agreement until this point - graphically and sonically it is certanly superior. Operation Thunderbolt is only clearly do-able on the 1CC if you are playing two player - the one player mode is stupidly hard - I can't 1CC it. Anyway, I think we can all agree that Operation Wolf 3 was total ****, right? :p

I just fired up OpWolf in MAME - I didn't realise that the Japanese language version allowed you to choose which stages to do in which order (with Jungle unlocking concentration camp, and concentration camp unlocking airport).

I want a remake of Operation Wolf/Thunderbolt using Lindbergh hardware - a HOTD4 special cab was MADE for Operation Thunderbolt :p
