Compatibility overview Superguns/MAKs

Post by Yamazaki »

Hi guys

due to my son getting his own room finally my cabs need to move.

Nevertheless I want to keep playing my games of course.

I got a Framemeister as well as an OSSC here.

the setup I have is an Acer monitor and a Samsung 65" QLED Q80T from 2020.

is there any kind of overview which Supergun or MAK is most likely to work on most TVs?

I know that for example the Framemeister was subpar for PCBs and TV setups.

If you're going LCD you'll get much better results just going the emulation route.
Basically all the superguns do is pass the rgb/sync signals to the appropriate scart pins so there won't be much difference between them.

You mean emulation as in a Mister?

Or old-school emulation with ROMs?

Both, mister doesnt have everything (and is a bit of a pain in the **** to get at the moment). But the options for scaling and compatibility will be a lot better than using pcbs. Ofcourse you'd lose "the feeling of using original hardware" and that can be enough for people to loose interest. Why not just get a small CRT TV? They really dont take up that much room

(not mine, just googled it)

that's the issue - my gaming room is becoming my son's kids room ^^

therefore everything that does not go to the storage room will have or hopefully stay in the living room.

and a (even small) CRT would be a no go :(
