Raiden DX + superguns

Hi all - I read these Seibu boards sometimes don’t play nice with superguns. My dx board doesn’t work (works fine in NAC). I think the voltage demand is maybe higher though, which I can control a bit, will try again later. Just seeing if anyone has experience with these. Supergun fine with other boards.

Does Raiden DX really pull that much juice? Test with a multimeter.

Thanks will do. Have a little voltage meter on the jamma edge in the NAC I think it showed 5.4v when dx was plugged in will check later.

Yeah, that's too high. Double check with multimeter. You want between 4.95-5.05V on the jamma edge, no more, no less.

Good shout will check in the NAC at the jamma and dial down.

Dialed in the 5v on the NAC, dx runs fine as far as I can see, so no need for more voltage on my board. Supergun still no joy maybe a display related thing. Appreciate the heads up NAC voltage was too high in general.

Does it play blind on the supergun? You can hear sounds when you start a game?

Hi - no, no sound. It’s a cbox into retro rink 2x scart to flex scan 4:3 lcd. I remember turtles not working well either but connected through unlike this. Might have to get on and rotate the nac!

It's not a display issue then. The game doesn't care if there's no monitor connected, it will still run normally.

Did you measure voltages with the supergun?

Supergun does have a little voltage meter wired in that the jamma edge so was defo supplying 5v (according to that) might check again later with the multimeter too.

Ok so does have sound..was being thick cos my monitor doesn’t have a speaker thought I’d checked the audio but
Hadn’t properly. So yes sound out, no pic. Voltage on jamma edge and on chips running fine just below 5v

Raiden DX runs at 55Hz, try different monitors.

Unlikely the RetroTink is the problem.

Ok think I ran out of monitors :D (which isn’t many to be fair). Have raiden fighters too same thing. Maybe it’s cab only until I can sort something else- shame as the eizo 4:3 monitor is decent.

Read a bit more on this with Seibu boards, tho in most cases people getting it sorted with a crt. This is into a eizo flexscan 4:3 2133 monitor which is decent (for lcd), rotates etc.Not sure if there is any path to getting it working using something external, but defo not 54/5 hertz according to the manual.

All the Raiden PCBs (Raiden 1,2,DX, all three Raiden Fighters games & Viper Phase Vol.1) run at vertical sync rates between 54-56 khz. Its far off from the 60hz standard. LCDs nearly never support sync rates like that and even a lot of home use CRTs dont support it.
