No sure, do you think you can post your mame.ini?

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
I don't use scanlines, I only use mame to try before I buy tbh.
But yeah, you're either using cools method, or hlsl, so you should figure out which

I find the best method is wearing the following:
I'm still ironing out some vertical scanline bugs though...

Haha I like that one dundarN..
Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
Hi! i'm new here.
I tried following the "MAME CRT Simulation" page in the wiki, but i have no idea how to set up the mame.ini for individual game resolutions other than blanket default settings. i end up with uneven scanlines, and the game screen is slightly capped off where "1UP HIGH SCORE 2UP" should be.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
hlsl is rather good isn't it (now). Almost makes me wish I had a machine capable of running MAME + hlsl at full speed.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
No matter what i try, HLSL always looks too blurry/filtered. I just gave up on using it.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
It depends a lot on how high resolution your monitor is, and I believe it requires different settings depending on your GPU. Brightness/contrast/colour settings depend on your monitor as well.
If you don't have a CRT to compare with then it's pure guesswork...
If I get time (bored) one day I'll do a side by side setup.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
Shoehorning one of these: http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/shar ... zo-monitor" into a Vewlix/Lindbergh would make for a nice simulated CRT environment.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
Use HLSL.
Looks fantastic in 1080p. I've tried at 768p as well, and that looks good too but you need to drop the defocus value to 0.5 or it's not sharp enough.
Special tricksy settings.

Re: MAME scanline/shadowmask simulation
No prob
Wouldn't be the first time I've spent hours at a meet messing with MAME configs
