JVS-PAC start button issues

Post by PascalP »

So, I just got hold of a JVS-PAC (rev. 1.7) and I'm having some issues with it to play nice with my Lakka PC.
Actually there are 2 issues, which might be connected together or maybe they are separate?

Issue 1:
Player 1 start button only registers upon release, when pressing it, nothing happens, while releasing it triggers.
This is really difficult for me as I use 'hold start' to go to the test menu.
If I connect a keyboard or USB arcade stick, start buttons works like it should.

Apparently this is standard behavior for the JVS-PAC:
On here I found that P1 start is issued after release, so perfectly matches my 'problem'.

Can this function be disabled somehow?

Issue 2:
If P2 start is hold down and P1 start is pressed, the P2 start freezes until I unplug the USB from the JVS-PAC to the PC

The rest of my setup looks like this:
Namco Cyberlead cab with standard Namco I/O
PC installed with Lakka, so no Windows involved.
When I test the P1 start button with arcade PCB's everything is OK, so I'm only having the issue with the JVS-PAS connected.

Mmmm, I think I just answered myself by doing some more digging on the JVS-PAC website, somehow I missed this piece of information;

Advanced optional - Disabling shift key functionality
If you don't want or like the shift key functionality, you can set a jumper on JP2. Be aware that the MAME license does NOT permit operation in a commercial setting.

Both issues resolved and working like a charm

First issue is as expected, but the second is a big with the shift key handling.

I answer mails, so in general I appreciate if people mail me with issues before posting videos on youtube :awe:

Can you do a diagnostics printout to get details on the IO board?

I read about a similar issue in this topic, and after some searching on your site I found the fix ;)
http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic. ... 0&start=40

I didn't post the video's on Youtube to go public but just to get them in this topic as a video says more than a 1000 words ;)
Maybe it would be a good idea to make it clear on your website the contact form can also be used for support? Was having some doubt on either using the contact form or posting here as I knew you are active on this forum.

Will see if I hook up a Windows PC this weekend and make a report, thanks for your support!

Interesting, and thanks! Seems like there are more than 2 versions of this. Got a picture of it too so we can stick it at http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/JVS ?

I've been having some other JVS related issues and there are a lot of pictures and info on the Cyberlead in my topic here:
