Toshiba PF monitor not locking onto any PC signal :(

Post by rewrite »

I've got a Toshi PF monitor in an original NNC cab. Trying to get Windows 7 to sync up with it as I intend to run Hyperspin. I'm running at 640x480 but I'm not getting the monitor to find a signal. Anyone know what refresh rate I should be running?

Not doing a thing, I'm afraid. The same PC works on my WG tri-sync at 640x480 60hz. And the Toshiba syncs up with my Naomi in hi res. I'm not sure what's going wrong here...

Either the cabling or the monitor is screwed.

Which model Toshiba is it? Mine has two inputs, one designed for JAMMA level and the other for VGA - I can swap between them but I have to alter the brightness levels. Maybe one does something different with the sync.

Just for fun I plugged my laptop into it and it worked just fine. Must be something odd with the particular combination of desktop and monitor? I'm going to keep poking at it. And it's a D29C051 monitor.

Same as mine. 640x480@60 will work fine. Can't remember if the sync adjustments are available with a standard remote board.

It seems like whenever I swap to a new monitor it changes res back to 1024x768. I plugged the desktop into my usual monitor at 1024x768, swapped it to 640x480, plugged it into another LCD I have kicking around, and it defaulted to 1024x768. Maybe the PC isn't keeping the 640x480 resolution setting when I swap to the Toshiba?

Possibly. I had a netbook that I could force to 640x480 but it wouldn't output at that resolution.

Windows 7?

Set it to base video with msconfig. Also force the monitor type, and set the resolution and swap monitors without rebooting.
