Shame there are no crt emu drivers for win7. Not sure what to do now apart from build a mediocre gaming rig :problem: :awe:

Read all of the thread until you get to Post 34. Then re-read it all again and again until you've digested everything. :)

It works on W7 now. I think the links are in the thread somewhere, I'm on my phone so can't find it.

7 is fine, but its still beta so I'm not writing anything up yet - I hate changing docs more than I do writing them.

Not that 7 is hard, but make sure you have some sort of sync protection in place!

Could someone explain what magic resolutions are? I see they involve very wide resolutions but I'm not sure I understand the point.

Edit: Found the wifi for CRT_emudriver, I'm good on magic/super resolutions.

Also, just found a 4890 card on the swedish ebay for cheap, happy!

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the link.
Looks a bit of a faff, but I don't have much choice so I will get all this stuff purchased.

I guess I will need to run a dual boot setup so I can put in a beefy card for PC gaming.

Finally purchased a mini-itx setup with 8gig of ram and this case.

I will worry about cooling later but I'm hoping the stock i5 should handle most stuff ok?

Even on the Cave stuff? I have this romantic idea of everything running so well that I can sell off a lot of my less cherished PCB's
I notice that Raiden DX is now running in Mame. Some seriously clever people out there. The protection on that game is unreal!

I partly misunderstood you and thought you were asking if the stock cooler was enough to cool down your i5, it is, and you can even overclock it if it's a K series but keep it reasonable :)

But you will get 100% speed on 99% of the regular stuff on mame, cools is the expert there though.

Ahh no problem but pleased to hear that the stock cooler is sufficient. It is a K and I did intend to overclock it but only if the Cave stuff struggles :D

The Cave SH3 stuff isn't emulated properly. You will notice it.

Raiden DX is very close to perfect.

Should be enough power for most things though.

That's a shame. The SH3 boards will stay with me for now then.
Can't wait to play DX. It's been years since I sold my PCB and I have regretted it ever since.

Got the PC parts from ebuyer super quick so managed to build the PC this weekend.
The Corsair case is really nice. It has 2 chassis fans that are super quiet.
I have yet to install Win7 as I need to grab it from msdn but the bios is showing the i5 is idling at around 40c with the stock cooler.
Is that normal? Been a while since I built a PC but that seems fairly hot for something sat in the bios :awe:

Normal. Temperature tolerances are way up from what they used to be

Good to hear. Cheers.
I enabled XMP for the ram I bought and it crept up to 45c. I may buy a slightly better cooler to OC it a bit but will see how it fairs for now.

Right, the announcement's gone out so here's why I bought more than I needed of 4350s:
http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/v ... .php?id=64"

Tool to modify any ATOMBIOS Radeon into a better than ArcadeVGA type card. It works, I've been testing it for the past couple of weeks in all types of scenarios. *Really* nice having 1024x768 (medium res interlaced) available - the UEFI BIOS on my Gigabyte board can see this so I've got no need for an external monitor any more at all.

Here's the announcement, including new versions of CRT_Emudriver, VMMaker and Arcade_OSD. There's also documentation being done way better than I've written.
