For various extremely complicated reasons i dont want to use the 'keyboard' encoder function on my jPac, i want to just use it to send the video signal to the monitor, and have the joysticks etc routed via a different keyboard encoder to the pc.
Sooo.... if i connect the jamma connector to the j-pac, connect the jpacs vga lead to the pc, and then connect my other keyboard encoder to the pc via the keyboard socket everything should work? I cant see any reason why it wouldnt, unless the jPac NEEDS to be plugged into the pc via the keyboard socket to get power or something?
j-Pac... this should work....right??

Your last sentence guesses correct, it gets power from the keyboard port.
I guess you could use the USB cable for it rather than the PS2 one.

In that case, if I'm correct, you don't need the Jpac at all because you can hook up your ArcadeVGA (5Khz) video card directly to the arcade monitor. Please read the documentation about that at the Ultimarc site.chubsta wrote:For various extremely complicated reasons i dont want to use the 'keyboard' encoder function on my jPac, i want to just use it to send the video signal to the monitor, and have the joysticks etc routed via a different keyboard encoder to the pc.

I don't see any mention of an ArcadeVGA

Sorry, but then it still should be possible to bypass the Jpac. As long as the monitor is feeded with a 15Khz signal, not 31 KHz.chubsta wrote:The man is right - i am going to be using soft15khz as my mobo has an nvidia onboard...cools wrote:I don't see any mention of an ArcadeVGA

The J-PAC does give the advantage of protecting the monitor from dangerous signals.
You can of course do what ckong is suggesting. You'd have a spare J-PAC to sell then
