Re: Boom Beach: guide for noobs :hinthint:

I still enjoy Clash of Clans, although play time is next to nothing now, certainly can't commit evenings away. Only a few weeks from max lab. I think the golden era suited me as it was there at a time when I'd grown sick of modern gaming and bored of the retro. I've always been fond of handheld stuf...

I watched Ashens unboxing of one. It's to his regret.

Re: Boom Beach: guide for noobs :hinthint:

Clash at least has/had (depending on viewpoint) a incredibly good multiplayer mode. One of my all time favourite parts of any game. Unfortunately (again, depending on viewpoint) it's also fundamentally broken in many ways.

Re: Adding a headphone socket

For speaker volume I'm sure just nicking whatever is used in an Egret is fine, don't think it directly translates to headphone use though.

E2/E3 have their own volume pot as well as the PCB one.

Re: Adding a headphone socket

Screw terminals, like on a JPAC.

Id been thinking a way of making things more straightforward is not to switch on socket, but on volume knob. Turn the knob to switch headphones on and cab speaker off, and control volume.

Ahh, his didnt have volume control and needed an external mono to dual mono adapter. It was no good for my specific usage.

Re: Adding a headphone socket

I didn't. Franco's wasn't quite what I was after either but I forget why, or I'd have bought one from him.

Re: Super Nintardbros!

BOTW instantly went into my top games ever list. SMO surpasses it. It doesn't have quite the same breathtaking sense of scale and beauty, but the sheer imagination and variety on display is second to none. It's a thoroughly modern game - big rather than replayable - my only complaint is that some of...

I got stuck on the scenery once.

SMO: They've nailed swimming/underwater sections. Every game ever has had terrible swimming, until now.

Re: Super Nintardbros!

Odyssey is a bit good. I love how absolutely everything can be interacted with, even if it serves no purpose. Once you get to New Donk City there are actual proper platforming bits too, as well as all the exploring bits.

Mastered the cap dive finally.

Re: Super Nintardbros!

I didnt need to do a whole lot of cooking throughout the game - maybe 6 times I did a big batch of meals that kept me stocked? It was pretty **** though, they could've put in a more time efficient method. Did bugger all experimenting with it. Weapon durability didn't bother me a jot. I saved better ...

Re: Super Nintardbros!

GX was excellent too but I feel it lost something X had. A bit too frantic maybe, compared to the smooth precision in X.

I'd take a direct port of SSX3 too, if we're wishing.

Re: Super Nintardbros!

I was never all that bothered with SM64 or Zelda back in the N64 days. F-Zero X however hasn't yet been beaten, and it's the one IP there's been no hint of an announcement about.

Re: Super Nintardbros!

Pretty sure you'll love it. Last Nintendo console I preordered was a Japanese Gameboy Advance, which was a bit of a let down due to the screen. Got plenty of mileage out of it though. The Switch reminds me of the NeoGeo Pocket in a lot of ways. Underpowered compared to everything else, portable, and...

Re: Super Nintardbros!

Its not bothersome at all, they are literally extra moves that generally make combat slightly easier to pull off. I've found you can actually just give the console a gentle nudge to activate them too, its super sensitive. Couple of spots so far where you actually need motion controls and the gesture...
