If it's a tri-sync you wanna take full advantage of that mate, otherwise it's all down to preference really.

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies

Well just wanted to reaffirm what cools has done with GM and Win7. My specs: HP Compaq Elite 8300 Intel® Core™ i5-3570 with Intel HD Graphics 2500 (3.4 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores) 4gb DDR3 PC3-12800 1600mhz ram (possibly 2 modules, need to check) 500gb SATA HD XFX Radeon 4350 1gb (dvi and hdmi out so ...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies

It's also working fine with Windows 7 now, albeit the drivers aren't final so I'm not writing up anything for that yet. That's good to hear as I've just been offered a cheap hp8500 elite sff i5 with win7 pro 64 which I may upgrade to an i7 depending on performance... :awe: Just got to grab another ...

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration

There is a way, but you have to do it in the layout - it's not the frontends job. I'm going to work on it at some point when I get the motivation to. Gotcha...thanks for the info cools...for some reason I got it into my head that actually splitting the layout selector into 2 separate selections, 1 ...

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration

It's better. The behaviour is still weird if you change rotation once it's running but that's understandable due to how the layouts work. A rotated layout no longer has wonky text though. Had a quick look last night, screensaver is much improved. Screen always defaults to hori on boot unless i have...

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration

Nice and tidy cools, good work!! :awe:

The only thing I'd like to do at some point now is setup a win 7 version with an i5 or i7 but tbh for the amount of time I get these days to play it I'm fine with my Xp64 setup for the mo!

"Was" overclocking it, but due to a few instability issues it's back on base at the moment...need to update my case/cooling setup really.

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration

I'm struggling to find anything this CPU can't handle that's actually also emulated well (in MAME). Gradius 4 runs fine as long as Groovy doesn't pick an interlaced mode, Cotton Boomerang is poor (though I think that's just a resolution thing as other STV stuff runs flawlessly). System12 is fine, a...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies

You need frame_delay enabled if using Direct3D (which we are using as it's easier), otherwise you get lag added. With DirectDraw it's not necessary IIRC. I've not noticed any stuttering introduced in anything I've been playing, except when I bump it to 7 when R-Type gets affected. If your hardware ...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies

As previously mentioned on the GM config file frame delay is always better set to at least 1, that avoids any chance of additional lag but does unfortunately introduce a tiny bit of audio stutter. Just for a laugh I bumped up the frame delay to 7 last night as I read someone was also using this sett...

Re: Mame in cab thread. Frontends, gamelists, configuration

Had a little bash on the setup last night!! :awe: All works very nicely along with attractmame although I still keep the MA setup there for the old custom game list shizzle. The only thing which is a bugbear with attract is the "rotation" issue which I know cools has already mentioned and as I under...
