I own one :D I think Shou has one, as well. Bought it off a collector many years ago. Also have a World version of Land Maker, which runs on the same F3 prototype hardware.

I have a complete MVS Samurai Shodown IV kit w/ uncut full-size (not the mini) marquee. What's something like that go for today? -ud £65 if the kit has matching serials and in near mint condition Doh! I'm an idiot. Just checked my kit and it's actually V, not IV. Didn't these guys get all kinds of crap because of their "Hey guys, you should give us money so we can go to Japan and film things" approach?

Yep! Yeah, that article you linked to is representative of the discussions that started popping up when I got those flyers up on TAFA. I was just a little late on actually writing about it :D

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"

In 1997 or so a local collector here in Seattle imported a container full of all the classic 25" cabs -- Aero City, Capcom Q-Sound, Neos, I believe one called a DOMY, and some others. He coined the term "sit-at" and sold quite a few of them around here as such. I don't remember exact numbers but he...

JP Conversions

I know American arcade ops are notorious for horrid conversions, but do you guys have any fun pics of JP Conversions? Just came across this today: http://img177.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/4/2/0/5/cyberdaioo-img450x600-1288420706jbzytp62179.jpg http://img177.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/users/4/2/0/5/cyberda...

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"

Heroin was the brand name obtained by Bayer to sell diacetylmorphine. It was an over the counter drug back then (circa 1900). I stand corrected. Yet another rightfully iconic name. I'm not aware of any widely distributed (within the West - where the name originates) Japanese-style cabinets that pre...

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"

but most people call there vacumn cleaners "hoovers" which was a brand as like above ! ;) As much as us non-Brits do not refer to all vaccum cleaners as "hoovers," that is actually a good example, as Hoover vaccum cleaners were the first majorly successful household vacuum cleaner. Iconic. Not to m...

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"

But out of curiosity, what is it about the term "candy cab" that you find offensive (besides them being named after the Neo Candy range)? See "Fiero Car" example. It's doesn't make any sense to use either term. And shmups too, since you brought it up. It's just a stupid word that's embarrassing to ...

http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Beginners_Guide_To_Candy_Cabs First section :awe: Oh, I'm well aware of the actual origin of the term. Ironically, the Neo Candy was one of the first "sit-downs" *wink/nudge* I was exposed to (before "the term that will not be mentioned" was coined). Jackie Chan is sti...

The Term "Candy Cab"

I find this term even more offensive than "shmup." I don't go around calling 2 seater cars "Fiero Cars" just because one of the first 2 seaters I saw was a Pontiac Fiero. "Hey, nice Fiero Car, brah!" "Uhm, this is a Ferrari." "Yeah, I know, I just like to call 2 seaters 'Fiero cars!'" :problem: *PUN...
