Re: death smiles PAL release

Interesting. The guy playing without slowdown appears to be doing better than the guy on the PCB. More bullet cancelling and all that. I'm not quite sure why the comparison video is showing DeathSmiles MegaBlack label (which has **** slowdown even on the JP port), when the real issue with the US po...

Re: Fire Shark (US, Romstar) dip switch settings?

It might be similar to Flying Shark (previous game in the series):

That'd suggest demo sound on and easy mode - seem reasonable?

Re: Smoking Sanwa PFX?

I'm less than impressed with the build quality of the newer PFXs in general. My one has a total inability to sync with composite sync signals, and even more than this, if it is fed a signal it can't handle it more often than not it will screech (and if you leave it like this you'll smell burning and...

50kHz is the right ballpark for 1024x768 60Hz.

As well as the localisation of text, Cave decided to change the slowdown from the JP port. Significantly.

Aksys didn't do any programming on DeathSmiles, that was all Cave.

Re: Cave's weakest title?

For me it is Pink Sweets (I've not played the PCB of DeathSmiles II, I didn't enjoy the port though). I thought I would love it (being a fan of Yagawa stuff), but it just didn't work for me. Ibara and MMP on the other hand are genius. Whilst not the worst of the catalogue, I really don't think much ...

Re: uVC woes...

I didn't, but I've not had time to look at it properly. I think it's just another case of the Curse of Chi, where anything I buy arcade-wise which is brand new doesn't work. I bought a Makvision 29" trisync that tripped the RCD every time I plugged it into the mains (it was due to a damaged degauss ...

Re: uVC woes...

I've tried on a laptop (mirrored, individual and spanned) and also my media PC in the front room. I have one other source I can try (a PCB that outputs 31kHz csync). I haven't tried another VGA cable (but this one works fine connecting the projector to the media PC). I'm sure I've seen something els...

uVC woes...

It's not a monitor, but since it deals with video image downscaling I figured it possibly best fits here? I bought myself a uVC (Ultracade Video Converter), and seem to have a problem with it. Before I shout "grrr!" and write it off as broken (can't really return it as it came from the US, via a fri...

Re: Ever gotten a highly anticipated game and been disappoin

Body Blows is alright 2P, 1P is nowhere near as good but it's not terrible. Well overrated though - better fighters came along on the Amiga later. ...of which Street fighter II (Amiga) was not one of them. I cried when I saw it, let alone played it. Also, obligatory "NIIIIINJAAAAAA!" I loved the do...

Re: 1CC Lists

So did you guys (1CC:ing Double Dragon) also die on purpose on stage 3 before the fight on the broken bridge? The time usually run out and it's better to wait for that when you have a low energy bar. Time is indeed tight on that stretch, but I don't generally run out of time (but I don't mess aroun...

Re: Wiring question

Seriously though, some 15 pin d subs should work for you. 4 joystick switches, 10 button switches and one for ground. That's what I use for control panel stuff typically (I like the big old DA15s that were used for serial ports on old PCs), one for each player's controls. Though I use a 9 pin D-sub...

otherwise I can directly wire the kick harness up through the legs to the control panel??? Yes, you can always do that (but it will make changing back from CPS2 a bit more time consuming in the future - this might be less effort than making a cable though, it's your call). IS this sound plugs ok wi...

Re: Naomi - CPS2.. Help Needed

Yes, that's the kick harness. You'll need to wire up a connector to the CPS2 from this right hand 8 pin header on the JAMMA adapter, else you'll only be able to play CPS2 games with the first three buttons.
