Re: Convergence Strip Tips

Going to give this a go on Thursday with the help of a local CRT expert. Wish me luck! I'll post back with some after pics once the work is done. The back of the monitor and the chassis is also very dusty. Should I hit it with a can of compressed air while we work on it? He is going to bring over a ...

Re: Convergence Strip Tips

Thanks guys. Do you think it will be possible to add the strips via the maintenance hatch on the Blast City? Or am I absolutely required to pull the monitor out again to do this?

I don't really have anyone to help me pull the monitor, so I'd rather leave it in if that's even doable.

Re: Convergence Strip Tips

Thanks guys. It definitely seems within the realm of something convergence strips could fix, at least from what I've seen on Youtube.

Let me know your thoughts:

It's an MS2930 monitor if that makes any difference. 8-)

Convergence Strip Tips

I was wondering if you folks have any tips for using convergence strips. Let's say I have a rather major convergence issue in the upper left portion of the screen. Is there any rule of thumb for where a convergence strip will be most effective? How many are generally needed to fix one corner? Should...

Re: Darksoft's CPS2 Multikit Tech Support Thread (No Killing B-Boards!)

I installed a right angle header to fit into custom case. Could that be the issue? Sounds like it. I got the same behavior before when plugging in the LCD after the system was already powered up. If I was to guess, one or more data connections are bad. Check your soldering with a multimeter to pin ...

Would be great if that happened and the PCB was in reach for 'normal' folk. Same with DFK.

Re: Help with GQ-4X w/ adapter

Interestingly the ST M27C4002-12F1 chips fail to write successfully on my Top 3000, but the ST M27C4002-10F1 chips write fine. Then again my sample size of 12F1 chips is rather small, so it's possible they are just bad - though unlikely. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else replicates the same b...

Re: PVM-3230 Service Menu?

Thanks, yeah I had already cross posted over there. :)

It turns out there is no service menu on this model, you must decase the monitor and manually adjust the pots to fix geometry. Props to daskrabs for the confirmation.

PVM-3230 Service Menu?

Does anyone know how to access the service menu on a PVM-3230? There is no 'Menu' button, so I tried pressing 'Display' to bring up the OSD with brightness/etc adjustments, then pressing the 'Enter' and 'Degauss' buttons at the same time; no dice. Optimally if anyone has the service menu for this mo...

As far as I know there are no differences, I'd just get a nice and cheap one. TBH though I haven't ever personally used one, just seen them recommended in cases like this.

Re: Wei-Ya M3129D - I broke it! T_T Degaussed and now rings of color!

Thank you. There's not much I could have connected improperly. I mean, it's really just two pins and a switch. Maybe the switch is broken, or enabled too much current for too long or something. I'll poke around the PCB for the PTC so I can source a replacement. I don't have an external degausser so...
