Re: exA-Arcadia

What about a consumer oriented version of the EXA platform, à la NeoGeo AES and CPS Changer? Same product, priced to a consumer audience, with consumer features and not coin operated?

Anyway, congrats for what you've achieved so far and I wish you lasting success.

Re: Are you a feeder?

Credit feeding can help a lot to efficiently learn a game. The problem I have with it is that I tend to loose the 'survival above all' mentality when doing it for too long. That mentality is crucial to make progress in an attempt to clear a game. In an STG i.e. it's important to have zero reluctance...

Re: Do you remember the first time?

I remember playing Pacman in a restaurant in the mountains, I realized what the player sprite is only after the coin (spent by my grandmother :) ). Tiger Heli was next to it. I also remember those trucks at fairs filled with machines, they had Toki and B.Rap Boys and some gun game that I can't ident...

Re: Your Fave Arcade Platformers.

I like Chelnov a lot, too. The safespot you're describing might be in the western version only, I've read that there are version differences. I've yet to confirm it myself, though.

Re: Your Fave Arcade Platformers.

there's very few side scrolling action games w/ gravitiy that heavily rely on jumping mechanics that I know of for arcades.

ignoring that criteria, my favorites are:

Strider Hiryu
Magician Lord
Black Dragon
Psychic 5

Re: What are your favourite cave shooters and why?

my favourite is Pink Sweets, because the whole concept is borderline crazy, but reveals the essence of shooting games imho. I also like Ibara and Muchi Pork, I don't know what to make of DFK BL. out of the older games, I find Guwange to be the most accomplished, as the gameplay and artistic vision a...

Re: What's it worth?

Big Bang $250 - 300 Crystal of Kings w/ Motherboard +-$250 Fire Barrel - difficult, as it's a very rare one and hardly ever for sale. There was one on ebay recently that ended close to $400, but it was from a Korean seller with sketchy description, so it's worth probably more than that. I'd say $400...

Re: Introduce yourself here!

Hi, arcade games is my favourite hobby, so I guess I'm at the right place. My setup is really economic on space, due to a smallish appartment, I use a supergun hooked to a IBM pc monitor via XRGB2+. At the moment I'm very fond of Taito shooters, I recently got Metal Black. Otherwise I find Yagawa's ...
