Re: Anyone own an Egret 29 with a Card Reader?

I just wound up with another Egret 29, and this one has the entire TCR system installed. The rollers in the card reader have turned to dust, as well as the belts, but I think it can be refurbed. Once I repair the TCR power supply and get some cards I think it can be revived. The card reader itself i...

Re: Single dot on screen after chassis/tube transplant

Without deflection you might expect a hole to be burned within seconds.

Use an ohmeter and check that you get some resistance on both windings of the deflection yoke (with it powered off, disconnected from the chassis). This way you can check that your yoke is not somehow an open circuit.

Re: Outzone pcb won’t coin up!

Check the 74LS240s near the edge, sometimes an input gets stuck. Could also be a bad resistor network for pull-up.

Re: Blast City Black screen and strange noise

I think your tube has gone to air. The deflection can be heard because the HV circuit is separate from the rest of the monitor's power supply on the MS-293* series.

Re: My Cave PCB's booting is unstable

Make sure the 32.768MHz crystal near the CPU is solid too. if it's missing, the board will repeatedly reset. You can see this from the red CONF_DONE LED pulsing very slightly during reset. Otherwise, the board gives no indication that the CPU is running until it has finished configuring the FPGA and...

Re: WTB - Chassis MS8-25FBC or Made MS8-25FAR

A word of warning: The MS9-29 will produce a much softer image on the 25" tube than the intended chassis will, at the default B+ voltage.

Re: Astro city with MS8-29FA - Shorted Degauss

FWIW that harness is what comes stock in the Pony Mk. III, for auto-degauss. What Nem says is correct - there is no timed mechanism to prevent it from burning out the PTC over time. The PTC / thermistor's job is to increasingly limit current as it heats up. This is what makes a degauss a quick pulse...

Already on it! That's a solve for the hardest to find part.

The next hardest is all the crazy metal brackets that go underneath it. May have to figure out fabrication for those.

Taito Egret 29 Control Panel + Upper

Long story short I've ended up with a maimed Egret 29: https://i.imgur.com/VXQCSTP.jpg Whoever did this made a whole thing out of it and has done many cabinets in this fashion. Naturally, the CP upper is destroyed, and all metal brackets associated with it were discarded. I can handle the wiring and...

PM sent. I have an E29 with a broken control panel so this would be great.

Re: Any MVS-U4 Owners Out There

The plastic 1p/2p/select panel is alright, but it has a little scratch graffiti and is pretty diffused. I wonder if I should try to lightly polish it. If I can get a flatbed scanner, it might be worth scanning just for reference in vectorizing it and producing a replacement. Is this piece plastic o...

Re: Any MVS-U4 Owners Out There

Checking in with my MVS-U4, which I'm working on. Got it in ratty shape, added a monitor and re-did the control panel. Just need to get some carriage bolts to hold the panel in place. How I got it: https://klovimg.com/images/2017/05/23/before.jpg As it stands now: https://klovimg.com/images/2017/05/...

Metal Slug runs at 30fps, that's just the way it looks when you have something moving at half the rate of the display's refresh.

Re: WIP: CPS 1.5 on CPS2 hardware

Following the theme of the thread, how far is SF Zero from being run on a regular CPS1 B board (as opposed to CPS Changer), as far as PAL selections and jumper configuration goes? Well you have to redo how sprites work and remove the huge blank space in the graphic roms so it could fit on cps1 (Meg...

Re: bootleg three wonders video problem

Looks like the sync signal is not working while graphics generation itself is fine. How close to a CPS is the bootleg board? You might be able to check the sync signals coming off of the CPS-B clone, for testing. Either way follow back from the Jamma edge's sync signal and check the ICs responsible ...

Re: Kaneko Super Nova RGB alignment problem

The resistor is bizarre, but all it might do is add a TINY bit of capacitance. That, however, would make it slightly less defined, and would make it delay a little to the right. If red is appearing first, your problem looks more like green and blue are delayed behind red. A passive component (RLC) w...

Hey, I'm Michael J Moffitt. I have a bunch of arcade boards, and a few cabinets, and like fixing and playing them. I registered here to find some information and also ask a few questions here and there.
