Re: Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh

How did you set the sound on these cabs? shmups tend to be really noisy for a relaxing (tastyyyy) coffe. I wish you huge amounts of good luck, such a good taste (coffe+candy cabs) cannot be ignored by the crowd! : )___ Thanks! :) Not too quiet, not too loud (hopefully). Enough to be satisfactory to...

Re: You've Got Grail!

I have a dead DoDonPachi DOJ & blue metal case. Confirmed dead by VectorGlow. That horrible situation where the battery was removed years ago and the board worked flawlessly, then out of the blue just boots to garbage  Any idea of value of either? I found a post from 6 years ago saying £60 for ...

Re: Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh

Ex-Edinburgh "working holiday" resident here, and also a friend of Charlie. I just wanted to say top stuff and congrats. Knowing Edinburgh decently enough, this arcade seems to add so much value to the city. Will definitely duck in when I come back to visit. Keep up the top work, and hopefully you ...

Re: Strikers 1945 2 buzzing sound

I don't have a solution, but this might be of interest: I had the same issue with a Strikers 1945 II board - buzzing, distorted sound - and VectorGlow replaced all the electrolytic caps and the sound amp, and it STILL didn't fix the problem! The only other possibilities were replacing the op amp or ...

Had to import them directly from Japan. Couldn't find any suppliers closer to home, unfortunately.

Getting -5v from a NVS-4000-01

I have a New Astro City with a NVS-4000-01 PSU. From what I can find online, this thing doesn't output -5v. Sure enough, no reading on the -5v on the board, and when I try running Raiden I've got no sound. Maybe a stupid question, but is there any scope at all for getting -5v from this thing, or any...

Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh

I've been working on this quietly for a while, and we're finally open! :D Konbo is a Japanese arcade inspired cafe in Edinburgh. We have candy cabs running a range of games (all original PCBs, of course) in a pleasant cafe environment, with good quality coffee & locally sourced pastries, cakes, plus...

Re: Super Famicom Console ... Sudden black screen!

I have encountered in the past when a couple of carts needed pushing down or sat at a certain angle to boot, but now its all carts that produce a black screen, including ones that booted without issue before. That sounds like the console's connector pins are dirty. You can clean them by applying al...

Re: Super Famicom Console ... Sudden black screen!

Maybe too obvious, but could it be a connection issue? I had the same problem happen - flicker, but black screen on turn on - but if I pushed down on the cart while turning on, the game started. So the connection just needed cleaned. All I did was clean the cart with some lighter fluid, insert it & ...

Re: The IGS PGM thread

Can anyone help me with an odd PGM problem please? I've got a Ketsui conversion cart that resets whenever I insert a coin! No other PCB I own has this problem, and there's no fault with the coin mech - seems to be exclusive to the PGM setup. Sadly I don't have another PGM cart to check against, so c...

Naomi firmware update failure

Tried to update my Netdimm firmware from 3.03 to 4.01, but I've run into a problem. First I went to the test menu to test the dimm. Results came back fine, no problems. Then I sent the firmware update to the dimm (no obvious issues), and I got the blue screen inviting me to press 'next' to update. W...

Re: Chaining multiple Blast City cabs??

Thanks for the info! So I guess same goes for any cab that's got a 100V out plug on the back? So - for example - could I chain 3 NACs together with just one of these: http://www.airlinktransformers.com/japanese_voltage_converters/japan_uk_voltage_converters/UK-JA0500/ ? Would that be safe enough? 1 ...
