Re: New Mame setup

Learned today that windows ships with a program called timeout, and with 7 seconds before attract-mode is launched all is good. Changing the arcade_31 monitor definition from 480 to 512 vertical lines and setting 0 0 for interlace fixed the modes, so afaik all is good now :awe: Had another issue whe...

Re: New Mame setup

Got the PC yesterday and had a brief play, cpu wise it looks very very good. Not really super intuitive to get the super modes etc working. One issue I experienced though, is that it seems to refuse to generate modes >480 lines - monitor definition? Also, want to avoid ALL interlaced modes as it pic...

New Mame setup

As I've just opened up sale of the JVS-PAC 2, I figured it's time to get a modern mame setup for 31K JVS gaming :awe: Ordered a refurb Dell Optiplex 9010 SFF, Quad Core i5-3570 3.4GHz / Radeon 6450 1GB / 8GB RAM which should be here next week. Current plan is to use windows 7, attract mode and Groov...

Re: Linking Sega JVS I/O 837-13551

Sorry to hijack thread, but to avoid confusion as the Jammafier was mentioned I should mention the jammafier (not riverservice) link logic: Player 1 inputs on secondary cabinet will be player 2 on primary cabinet. Player 2 inputs on both cabinets are ignored. Primary and secondary non-player input w...

Re: Linking Sega JVS I/O 837-13551

Good question. I guess it's something you just have to try out. It would need to be supported by the RS jamma converter. I think invzim was thinking about this functionality for his jamma converter, not sure if he ever added it. For JVS games, most fighting games seem to support linking IO boards. ...

Re: NNC with Atomiswave?

I'm not intimate with the atomiswave motherboard, but I see that it has a few oddities like only sending composite sync via the VGA connector? Also not sure about the audio, so no guarantees - check out https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sammy_Atomiswave#Hardware_Manual For controls though and mono audi...

Re: How to get this kind of Jamma edge?

Mike's arcadeshop has them, I think they're NOS:
https://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=CECM56

AFAIK not available on the general market, but the Vewlix Jamma scaler kit uses a crimped jamma edge connector which they must have gotten from somewhere.

Re: Sega Rev. B JVS - power input questions

You don't need to power it via jamma :) For bench use, I have this one: https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/JVS#Sega_838-13683-02 https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/images/c/c3/Sega-io-838-13683-02-pcb.jpg and have simply soldered a couple of loops where 'CN9" was supposed to go, https://www.digikey.no/product...

Re: Places to find a good ROM Programmer?

I'm on my second Wellon/weilei programmer, and very happy with it, these guys: http://www.weilei.com.cn/indere.htm Software works great and have had no technical issues with it, I've got the VP-490. The version numbers can be a bit confusing, so do a bit of research. They can be found on ebay/ali et...

Re: Naomi Replacement Fan Mount

Got the fan today, and did the replacement - works great! It's not a direct fit - but a little glue secured it nicely.

Re: Naomi Replacement Fan Mount

Great work on the Noctua CPU fan!! Been looking for something that works for ages - will definitely pick one up! ATX works fine, you just need to take a little care with the adapter. Main point is to use two pins/wires on the ATX side for each pin/wire on the JVS side for 3.3V and 5V. For GND there ...

Re: Best thing to lay PBCs on when playing them?

I dislike pcb feet, they snag on everything and I never actually need to screw my boards to anything.

I use M3 nylon nuts instead, made a thread about it some time back:

Re: Wires

For power, bigger=better. For controls, it doesn't really matter.

For the Jammafier I'm doing, I wrote a little note on power:

You can find european to AWG references all over the web.

Price point is TBD, but aiming at around 140usd + shipping.

SD is for firmware updates, and could be useful for oddball config stuff in the future.

Remote board pots

Pondering on a new project. Anyone (Grant? :awe: ) know the size (ohm) and type (linear/logarithmic) of pots generally used?
