So are you wanting this chip to create conversions?coolmod wrote:Well, lets just say it will allow people to get their hands on the game without paying $400 for one, but I need to find someone who will lend me the chip or the board first heh.

Re: Bootled PCB King of dragons GAL20V8
Generally PLDs run quite hot. Where was the short on the chip? Something else to keep in mind, just because the continuity tester beeps doesn't necessarily mean there is a short. What was the resistance? I recall on my Silent Scope boards the resistance between VCC and GND was about 16ohms so the co...

Re: Nitro Ball PAL chip replacement
Best thing to do is store the board until a PAL dump can be acquired. Not really a game I've seen for sale but someone may be kind enough to lend theirs for dumping or perhaps be able to dump it themselves

Re: sega system 16A pal chip Help
That chip isnt a PAL chip but a CK2605 which is a cut down PLS153 used by Sega.
That said it looks to be easily compiled for a GAL16V8.
You have PM

Re: leonardoliveira & Idc's clean decrypted roms
I made that program quite a while ago now (06/02/2011 according to Windows timestamp). I since learned how to decrypt my own ROMs to some degree using the method that compares to another set but different region. It worked well but obviously there are limitations. The checksum thing didn't even ente...

Re: leonardoliveira & Idc's clean decrypted roms
not quite. The main issue with phoenix sets is the alleged "unknown" changes that were apparently made.
My program worked fine for me but i only used it on a couple of sets i actually had hardware for. I wouldnt really recommend anyone use it, especially not now there is a far better alternative

Re: leonardoliveira & Idc's clean decrypted roms
Yeah, it wasn't really meant to be used for much good really.
It was mainly wrote to teach myself programming and since I was messing with cps2 stuff at the time I thought it would be fun.
it just replaces the jump to that phoenix menu with the code that was originally there.

Re: Rainbow Islands repair help
You are correct, all the address lines on those RAMs are connected.
What are pins 8, 9 and 10 of that 74F00 doing on your board?

Re: Rainbow Islands repair help
The CPU has read write access to the object ram, well it does on startup at least. If you look at the dissassembly the code is writing a value to the ram, it them reads it back and compares it. If its different then the object ram error is displayed. The object ram starts at $D00000 so address lines...

Re: Rainbow Islands repair help
Had a look at the RAM on mine.

All of PIN 21 (/WE) locations are marked on my second masterpiece
All PIN 20 (/OE) are tied to GND
All PIN 18 (/CS) go to PIN 8 of IC48 (74F00)

Re: Bubble Bobble Bootleg info
I'm looking forward to trying this when I get some free time again.
just a question though. All of the patches you have posted, do they ALL need to be applied or do I just need to apply the later ones?
thanks for your work on this, very impressive
