Yes it's removable. I think they have crimped it in place a bit but i've removed one with a flat head screwdriver and a pair of pliers.
It won't stick back (unless you manage to crimp it again) but it doesn't matter when you tighten the bolt at the end.

You can get really cheap lock pics for tubular locks from ebay. Youtube will show you how to open them.

Edit: Well crap.. forgot I needed the cable. Well actually only for the cardemulator. :D

Sorry to change the subject, but on that river service link there is also a neck cover that replaces the back cover on an Astro. Is it the case that the neck sticks out when you tate it - is that correct, never heard of that? I used to have a Tosh PF in one of my Astros and yes, the neck does stick...
