Re: Rodotron 666a / Sanwa 29E31S Vertical Height Issue

Thanks for the tip. Before I go tearing things apart, this is on the main chassis PCB, right?

Rodotron 666a / Sanwa 29E31S Vertical Height Issue

I have an issue with my Sanwa 29E31S fitted with a Rodotron 666a chassis. The vertical height is too tall for the screen, even with the pot on the remote board turned all the way anti-clockwise to its minimum. It's mostly a problem at 15KHz. The picture had always been a little 'tall' at 15KHz, even...

Romset sfa3udi.zip is still non working. could please fix? this is Street Fighter Alpha 3 USA romset on http://cps2.avalaunch.net/ . Just boots to a red screen. have tried reburning multiple times. Works if i use the Japanese phoenix edition version but need USA version. I see above where you had f...

Re: Most Memorable Arcade Music

I'll echo the sentiments of many, for me it's Street Fighter II and its variants. That's what I remember most from my time in the arcades as a kid. A little more recently, Cave did indeed bash out some games with beautiful soundtracks. So to post something not already mentioned by others, I'd say th...

Re: CPS2 Conversion - 98% Successful

That's what I had in place originally (PAL G), and was producing the audio anomalies at voltage above 4.7V. You can see it in the picture in the OP. Once replaced with pal F (pin 7 lifted and jumpered to CN3 C13), the problem was resolved. I tested with a GAL16V8A I burned and an original pal G, bo...

Spork wrote:You can't use a G pal like that on a PCB revision that old. You need to use F with jumper wire.
You can, but you have to lift pin 9 of the PAL3 out of the socket and jumper wire it to pin C13 on connector CN3. This works on revision 3 and 4 boards.

Re: CPS-2 Security pin?

I've managed to pop several of these out simply by removing all of the torx screws and pulling the two case halves apart. If you're careful not to crack the case, the pin will just release and fall out.

Re: CPS-II shells, can they be cleaned?

I do an initial clean with Fairy Liquid (other, more manly-sounding dish-washing detergents are available :fastlove:). I usually do this over the kitchen sink, taking care around the labels. The small serial number label can take a bit of water, but the large one should be avoided at all costs. I us...

Re: SSV 3.6v nicd questions

I don't think any sane manufacturer would make a suicide battery circuit out of a rechargeable battery. :awe: What, like Capcom did with the Kabuki? :awe: CPS 1.5 had the same kind of primary battery CPS2 had... (3.6v not rechargeable) Pang and others are pre-CPS though, also using the Kabuki. It h...

Re: leonardoliveira & idc's clean decrypted roms

Nice one Leo, thanks for updating. meijin, are you still having issues? It's quite unlikely that your boards have just "died" from having the ROMs swapped. It could happen, but you'd have been extremely unlucky if it did. Have you tried Raz's CPS2 test ROM? You need to burn it to a single 27C4096 an...

Hi guys and thank you for the good work. I used the decrypted roms from the site to try to revive my green vampire savior. Both euro on Japanese release failed to revive the board. I reprogrammed the 8 eproms : First i tried Japan version : 3~10 Japanese decrypted from the site -> no boot Then i tr...

Re: Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Edition :awe:

I agree that eshop pricing is stupid, but I'm all for it when it comes to indies. Some of my favourite games of the last decade couldn't possibly exist otherwise. Oh, of course. Indies are a different matter entirely. AAA titles which can be had on disc for £39.99 but then it's the same price or ev...

I refuse to buy download only games. Yeah, just like you, if I'm paying out teh cash moneys, I like to have something to hold in my hands. :fastlove: Often, the physical copy of a game can be had for less than the downloadable release. This irks me as it's way cheaper to provide a download of a tit...

Re: Looking for insight on CPS-2 gray boards

Some good observations there, WilalvesBR. I'd forgotten about the inclusion of Mexico within the USA region on some (later?) games. I think that something similar can be said for Australia and the surrounding areas. There is an Oceania region, for which I've only ever seen one game dumped (Street Fi...
