Re: Red Bull - Playing Fields (Japanese Arcade Culture) New episode released

Red Bull's productions tend to be very high quality and I was particularly impressed by the level of research as they interviewed a number of key people in todays scene. I see the next episode is out now on indy games. It doesn't matter how many times videos like this get trotted out - I always enjo...

Re: Current Arcade Situation in Tokyo

Thanks for the update, good to hear what's going on. We may need a thread for the NUC. I assume the gamepad controller is a dummy that does not function, but is to show you the machine is USB socket enabled? and can the machine be disassembled for transport better than the vewlix? Off to find a manu...

Re: Dreamcast 2? Famitsu Exclusive.

It will be interesting to see how far along with development SEGA is and how the "Fog" computing gets utilised. If it's just for 'out of hours' then perhaps it will allow people to play StarHorse or other turn based simulators :shifty: (I actually like the game btw) It could also be used in the day ...

R360 arcade1up cabinet?

If it's a new console or portable device then that would be brilliant.

Re: Gesen Mikado Crowdfunding

Does anybody know if the Japanese government is able to support arcades/leisure sector during the current Covid-19 situation?
In the UK I believe measures have been proposed such as changes to businesses rates payable for the year.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou EXA LABEL

Great to know Cave are onboard. :awe: The Exa catalog of games is growing nicely as promised. Off topic, Does anybody know if the Japanese government will be supporting arcades/leisure sector during the current Covid-19 situation? I see Taito are temporarily closing a number of sites for example, he...

Re: exA-Arcadia

Gimmick! update looks and sounds great. It's nice to see an arcade exclusive and exA getting a lot of attention for this and I hope it does well. The developers could choose recoup some costs in a few years by releasing it on console. Very tempted, I do wish there was a slightly cheaper option to ge...

Re: Items you can't afford on Yahoo Japan Auctions

That's sad news about SMJ closing, they've been perfect over the years. I had a hotel in Japan once that was just down the street so stuck my head around the door. :awe: What was the SMJ deposit for?, I just had the spending limit set at a decent amount when I opened the account a long time ago. Re: Modern Jamma games

The art style in Skycurser is nice, I've not had an opportunity to find out how the final version plays. I've heard both positive and negative feedback about the game and hardware. NG Dev Team have mentioned that they intend to release a non PC based, JAMMA system that accepts cartridges. The first ...

Darius Cozmic Collection (International release)

Limited games (based in Germany) are releasing the Darius collection International version for PS4 and Switch. They have split the arcade and home collections into two releases. I understand there will be a digital release also next year. https://store.strictlylimitedgames.com/collections/darius-coz...

Re: Kawasaki Warehouse

I guess part of the attraction was that it was a 'destination' with so much in one place.

Taito Hey or Try Tower are just as interesting, so don't feel that you missed out.

I personally like the charm of small independent arcades just as much tbh

Re: Kawasaki Warehouse

Yes, it's certainly one of the best I have visited - being a modern building there was quite a bit of open space in the main areas that created a really chilled out vibe.

Although not shown in the video, they had multiple machines for all the latest releases and a interesting classics selection.

Re: exA-Arcadia

Does exA-Arcadia plan on attending JAPPO 2020 or making another showcase video to update the progress of forthcoming titles, I found that quite informative. You have given good reasons why targeting current generation and the popular developers needs to be the main focus. However interestingly you m...
