I remember smaller stuff you used to be able to use UPS and Fedex, but its a lot harder to do now, especially if hes trying to ship a small cab.

Re: Info wanted: Japanese freight company that ships partial containers?

Just need one that ships *from* Japan. Back in the day I remember half containers being a bit of a special thing. Maybe I'm just old and my memory is shot?

Info wanted: Japanese freight company that ships partial containers?

Posted this on shmups -- this seems like the best place to ask. Apologies if not. WAAAAY back when, I recall a company that would ship partial containers. I think they'd load your **** up, partition it, and weight for another partial order to ship. Anyone have any info? I can't recall if it was here...

Re: PCB shops in Tokyo

Other than those, not really. I hear G-Front isn't open to the public anymore, to boot. Akihabara is a far, far cry from what it was in it's glory days (about 20 years ago) but there's a few arcades still worth checking out (HEY, Try Tower although a lot of it's retro stuff has been depleted). Just...

Re: Arcade or Console gaming - Essential books, magazines &

Yu Suzuki Game Works Vol1 is a nice book. The main reason for buying it is probably the disk rather than the book, but it's got some nice pictures and that. It's not a bad read, and an interesting one at that. Well, at least the couple of chapters I read. I should have read more. The disc is a miss...

Sega Arcade History セガ・アーケード・ヒストリ
I'm currently actively looking for this book. All text is in Japanese so just be aware if that kind of thing bothers you.
These will take you a while to find, I'm afraid. Well, they did me anyway. Got some good reads out of them. Oh, the good old days.

Re: Arcade or Console gaming - Essential books, magazines &

Arcade Sore ha Pon Kara Hajimatta (It Started with Pong). Ironic title as the book starts with the gaming scene in the 1930's in US. Decidedly not Pong. But, it's a catchy title. Roughly 500 pages of very dense Japanese text. A handful of pictures. If you can't read Japanese relatively well, don't ...

Figured I'd chime in. I have a private proxy through my site which is kind of a word-of-mouth only thing. It's hidden unless you have a cookie enabled on your machine. ;)

Anyway, a few people here have been using it. Not without it's bumps, but has some cool features too.

Re: 100 Yen: The Japanese Arcade Experience

Guess I'm glad I didn't read NASguy's post a while back. As one of the few people here that actually met the entire film crew, I was very impressed. They are not only serious about being documentary film makers, they really dug deep, had a completely bilingual producer for those pesky Japanese guys ...

Re: Going to Akihabara - Recommendations please

Try to venture out into the sticks a bit & don't make your whole holiday just about the city. That's the plan. But I honestly have no idea where I could go. I'd love to spend a couple of days outside the city. Any recommendations? My favorite day-trip in Kanto is Kamakura. It's very Kyoto-ish, but ...
