Hey fellas, had some bad news work wise last week, so It looks like I may need to sell my eggy II :( Its not in great condition, has quite a few marks, a little screen burn but has a nice 2L12B cp (with instruction sheet) and comes with the maintenance manual and repro holder. Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies
Looks like there are sensible versions of the 6570 (passive, VGA port, low profile) available. And of the 7350/7450. But they're not easy to find. Ebay is awash with 6450 though, which look substantially quicker than the 4350. Not necessary for MAME of course, but might make DirectX shiz better. Ye...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies
I've not tried it yet. Current setups all work fine so until its out of beta I'm leaving them alone ;) Wondering what the fastest card it supports with analogue out is though. Passively cooled of course. Well he mentioned the 7*** series in his notes which isnt a huge step up from 4*** tbh but ther...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies
CRT_Emudriver has had a massive update. Still beta but looking very promising - you can use newer Radeons! Posted a link to the setup guide in the opening post. I would only recommend following that guide if you can duplicate calamity's setup instuctions exactly, my single port low profile 4350 now...

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies
With salamander im pretty sure that's normal, if you have a full compliment of multiples and weapons the game does tend to slow down quite heavily particularly on the busier sections.
Although the bosses tend to be more quicker/aggressive the more weapons you have.

joeblade has an i7 in his setup and says the Cave games do not run that well for him which throws the theory off a bit Tbh I think your theory is "bang on" mate, im just a fussy **** when it comes to emulation and cave emulation is a long way off from being perfect. ;) It's the more demanding cave ...

Re: PC setup recommendation for emulators
Tbh, running 640x480 31k with fake scanlines looks very good. I believe it's Mr Cools preferred setup.
If you were going down the CRT Emudriver route the GPU you want is the ATI HD4350.

Yep, that looks good to me spec wise fella.
With that GPU you won't be able to go with CRT Emudriver but just keep everything 640x480 @31k and run fake scanlines for mame.
