Re: Nanao MS9-29S b+ filter capacitor

Is there a write-up on replacing the caps on MS9 chassis? My monitor's exhibiting similar problems that have been getting worse over time. I only can suspect that it must be some capacitor(s) going out. Basically the picture is curved and warped at the edges of the image when I first turn the cab on...

Like Kern I never want to sell my Ketsui board. I've also got a 3rd Strike board that I hope never breaks lest I go postal on the helpless security cart.

Re: Monitor is warped inward/distorted on the left side

All of the monitor's controls do work. I managed to adjust it a little better tonight but there's still some distortion. I noticed that by increasing the brightness/contrast it straightens the picture out a bit, but its a fine line between way too bright and way too distorted. I also noticed that af...

Re: Monitor is warped inward/distorted on the left side

I tried adjusting the size controls but no matter how much I tweak it always seems like the top two corners (top as in if the monitor was in 4:3 orientation) always seem to bend inward. Geometry controls don't help it either. The effect is as if the picture is wrapped around a cylinder slightly so t...

Re: Monitor is warped inward/distorted on the left side

I have a similar issue on my monitor. Mine is the Nanao monitor in a New Astro City cab (MS9?) I have tried adjusting every pot on the chassis and the remote board but for some reason the top corners always seem warped inward. The monitor is currently in TATE right now and I have uploaded a couple p...

Re: 3rd Strike 990608 vs. 990512

The NoCD kits are far from common so you're most likely going to end up with a CD version anyways. CD-ROM versions are superior in my opinion anyways since you can re-flash easily. You can still re-flash the game with the NoCD version but you need to use someone else's CD-ROM. Just pick up whatever ...

Re: question: are these sf3.3 carts real sf3.3 or others gam

Someday we should organize a collective effort to round up all the dead JP or ASIA CPS-3 carts out there and bulk send them to be serviced by either Capcom Japan or Asia. :)

Re: Street Fighter III series

Yup I think you might be right Kernow. I just looked at the info on the MAME CPS3.c source file and it says the battery only powers the custom SH-2 ASIC. I did read a comment from Razoola on NG.com that he would look into phoenixing CPS-3 someday when he has more free time. So let's all cross our fi...

Re: Street Fighter III series

I have kind of a theory on a way the CPS-3 could be "phoenixed" but I don't really have the technical knowledge to back it up. I was thinking since the encryption keys are stored in the SRAM on the cart which is retained by the battery, would it be somehow possible to create a Flash RAM chip with id...

Re: 3rd Strike 990608 vs. 990512

I believe 990608 has some other bug fixes I think...such as the Ken neutral grab on Makoto freeze. Not sure what else is fixed off hand. I just bought a 3rd Strike setup (with CD-ROM of course) and I have burns of each of the versions.

Definitely will be playing my new 3rd Strike CPS-3 board as soon as it gets here from fellow AO member Mikeidge. Can't wait to pop this sucker into the ol' NAC.

Here's the Astro City layout from Joystick Vault. http://www.joystickvault.com/showphoto.php?photo=23"
You can check through more layouts at http://www.joystickvault.com/showgallery.php?cat=506"

There's not a huge amount on there but you should be able to find something useable.

Re: Mounting a 29" TV in a Naomi universal.

I've seen a TV mounted in a Jaleco Pony MkIV before and it was done very well. In fact when I first got on the machine I couldn't even tell it wasn't an actual arcade game and monitor. In this case it was an XBox wired up to the screen and controls.

How much is Capcom vs SNK 2 (CVS2) for Naomi going for? I haven't even seen one for sale yet in my short time on these forums.

Mpoilu: Where did you order your electronic components, particularly the LM1881N? I looked on the National Semiconductor site but they require a minimum order of like $35 USD. I have one PCB so far but until I can afford more I'd like to at least put my PS2 in there for CVS2 and Guilty Gear.

My friend in the SF Bay Area bought an Astro City from a guy that has a small warehouse full of them in San Jose. I'm not sure if he ships but its worth contacting him. Re: Help with my cab (xbox or ps3 setup)

What I would most likely do is use Toodles' Cthulu boards for the inputs since you can use them with a bunch of type of consoles now as well as PC. I already have a Naomi amp in my cab so all I really need is a way to convert the video from a console to the 15khz signal in the monitor.

Re: Help with my cab (xbox or ps3 setup)

Ah yes, I had seen that thread. How much did the last revision cost? All it requires is an SCART cable for the specific console right? That looks like the route I'll probably need to go but I was wondering if there were other options and it looks like there isn't, aside from DIY. Edit: Anyone used t...
