Re: Is my game board dead? Help!

Thanks all. I’ll have a look. But I’m still not sure why I should buy a cheap JAMMA board to test it when the BSOD basically means the board is the issue... but then again there is a slight chance I disconnected something when taking it all out of the cab... I’ll see what I can find and post again.

Re: Is my game board dead? Help!

Thanks, yeah I guess I’ll venture out to Akihabara and see what I can find. The whole reason for having this thing working now is so I can avoid going to Akihabara during the pandemic.. but I’ll suit up and go once I guess. So in other words, it is possible my board will still function after the blu...

Re: Is my game board dead? Help!

Nem, thank you always for your help! OK, so you’re saying the board could be dead but just because it could also be the monitor that there is no way to find out for sure without hooking it up to another cab? Yeah, that’s not going to happen... sure, I could go down to Akihabara and pick up a “cheap”...

Is my game board dead? Help!

Hello everyone, back in May I received generous help from many members on getting my Sega Astro City working-> https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41624 Now, about 3 months later I fear that my fun has come to an end... I'll explain the situation and hopefully those of you more knowled...

Re: Current Arcade Situation in Tokyo

Oh man, that’s a bummer. I haven’t ventured out to Akihabara yet. Not even Shinjuku— trying to avoid train travel as much as possible. That’s sad news. I just hope HEY arcade can hang on, definitely in my top 5 and best in Akihabara, if you ask me.

Re: Current Arcade Situation in Tokyo

Thanks for checking out the post and replies. If anyone wants to know about their favorite arcades in Tokyo let me know, and I’ll do my best to look into it or pay a visit when possible. Thanks for the update, good to hear what's going on. We may need a thread for the NUC. I assume the gamepad contr...

Current Arcade Situation in Tokyo

Hi all, this is my second topic; I’d like to give back to the community after so many helped me in getting my Astro City working. For those who checked out that thread (https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41624) you may recall I live in Tokyo. I’m sure I’m not the only one based in Tok...

Re: Mikado Game Center Europe

This is awesome-- I had no idea Mikado had fans abroad. Though I guess if any of you "Arcade Otaku" ever came here to Japan, Mikado would be on the top of your list. I can't wait until Mikado opens back up when things get any sort of normal again.... though they started opening things in Tokyo in "s...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

First of all, you guys are all the greatest. The fact that you would all help a total stranger (who probably knows too little about the topic to even be welcome here) is beyond words. I don’t know, it is just really refreshing. Thank you all so much! You're confused, sorry. For button 4, you have to...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

110 is the crimp terminal that connects the end of the wire to a button. AMP is the type of connector that is used throughout the cabinet. A plastic housing with male/female crimped on pins inside it. OK, so to to get my kick buttons working, let me see if I understand correctly. I CANNOT simply co...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Thanks for your reply, nem! Button 4 is on pin 9 on both P1 and P2 connectors. You just need a bit of wire with a female amp up connector on one end and a .110" terminal on the other. Then just push the wire into the correct spot on the connector housing. Cool, thanks. So I tried looking up what the...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Demag can be pressed at any time. Great, next time I fire it up I’ll give it a press. Glad to see it working, especially after sitting in an unknown working state for so long. :awe: Looking at your photos it looks like you have a CPS2/3 kick harness installed, that's the thing that terminates with ...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Thank you!! The monitor just needs degaussing. If the original degauss/demag button isn't wired up you can buy a degaussing wand. Awesome, thanks for the info! So that’s what the demag button does, good to know! Does it matter when I press it? Just anytime the system is on, or is there a process of ...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Yes, it works!!!! This is indeed a happy day for me. Thank you so much for all of your help, especially nem!! So, game board works, cab works, speakers work. Marquee light needs a fluorescent tube and maybe a fuse, but I don’t need that to light up anyway... but what I do NEED, are kick buttons!! So...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Looks like I spoke too soon. The monitor is working. When I turned it there were a bunch of clicking sounds and eventually the screen came on. Fooling with the controls changes the size the blueish square that appeared. image.jpg So that’s cool. What’s next? Thank you for your continued support!! Ge...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

then remove the monitor surround. Unplug the speakers if they already aren't. The monitor surround is held down with three bolts that are under the CP. Make sure the control board actually connects to the monitor. Never mind, figured out what you meant. A peak behind the monitor though reveals that...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Good idea, nem. I am relieved that the game board seems to be working and getting power, but it’s time to make sure the cabinet itself works. I believe the monitor control board connection is one I figured out correctly... it’s the connection on the right in the photo below, correct? image.jpg Take ...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Welp, as I feared, there was no change. I thought that monitor connector may have been the solution to getting the magic on the screen, but I got nothin’. So I’m not sure where to go from here... I should mention that the power box inside the cab doesn’t seem to make any sound, so maybe power isn’t ...

Re: Please Help Me Get My Astro City Working!

Thanks so much for the replies!! Thanks to your help I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! It’s been over 5 years with this cab sitting in the corner of the room and not running! That should be connected to the monitor. The monitor connector is in a slightly cumbersome spot though....
