Re: MiSTer FPGA - Cave 68000 Core Beta Released

Has anyone run a comparison between this and Groovymame's latest build? I use the latter in one of my cabs, and it works wonderfully, but not quite perfectly, so I'd be interested to read any comparisons.

Voltmeter recommendation

Is there a particular LCD readout voltmeter that people recommend to use? I'd like one that gives me a continuous reading on my +5 inside an NAC, to ensure it's giving enough juice to the various boards I use. I vaguely recall seeing a lovely red LCD readout in a pic on this forum. Anyhow, any recom...

Another vote for Blazing Star (prefer to Pulstar).

Also, Street Hoop/ Dunk Dreams is wonderful, and super accessible for when non arcade-head visitors come round.

Re: CAVE CV1000 score saving

Ah - you're dead right. It's saving global scores, but not 'today's scores, which is what confused me. Thanks Yosai!

CAVE CV1000 score saving

Recently purchased my first CV1000 board. It doesn't seem to be saving high-scores after power off. I changed the battery but, every time I switch off the machine, the scores are cleared. Is this usual behaviour for these boards? If not, any idea how to get the PCB to save scores properly?

Gunbird 2 save scores?

Is it possible to save high scores on the Gunbird 2 PCB? Recently picked one up, and it's my first Psikyo board. Wondered if I was missing some battery or something, as it seems unlikely the scores wipe each time the machine is turned off?!

NAC kick button loom q

Bought an NAC without buttons 4-6 linked up. Went to plug in my new AMP-UP connector, and noticed that the loom that runs from the top of the CP down to the bottom of the cab, is wired up differently. First pic shows the internal loom, which has three wires in the top row and five in the bottom: IMG...

Good shout. It's mainly a home console-based store, but they have some good arcade stock in the back corner, too. I've bought some very reasonably priced Naomi carts there in the past. Picked up a MvC2 for about £40 last year, I think!

Re: Best place to buy shmups in Tokyo?

Good news is that Tokyo will have pretty much every console-based shmup you could want for sale *somewhere* in the city. The bad news is that in literally every case you will pay eBay prices or, in many cases, more. You're at least ten years too late if looking for Tokyo bargains on desirable old ga...

Re: advice for buying Pc to run steam games in a vewlix cabinet

I recommend picking up an Alienware X51 R2 . It's a few years old, but is more than powerful enough to run all Steam shmups and fighters at maximum settings. It's also a small form factor, and comes in a case that will fit perfectly inside a Vewlix on the shelf. One of these will set you back about ...

Re: Natsuki Chronicle

have been enjoying this the past couple of days. Their games always strike me as slightly ropey at first, then get their hooks into me, and this one is no different.

The rechargeable shield mechanic (which works in places of lives) is *excellent* and, as far as I know, completely new.

Sister Royale (PS4/ Switch) - Alfa System's first game in 12 years

New shmup from Alfa System coming to PS4/ Switch on Jan 30th (for Europe, at least).

Looks similar to Shikigami no Shiro, which is unsurprising as it's the same dev...

ZeroRanger (+running on cab)

Finally got around to playing ZeroRanger, which I noticed a bunch of the members over at the Shmups forum have been raving about since its release last year. It's a TATE STG with chunky pixel styling, but there's a lot more going on than in your typical pixelart modern shmup. Controls are extremely ...

Amazing shmup, and the Steam version is worth it for the global leaderboards.

If you run a PC with Big Box in an HD cab, it's one of the essentials.

What's a reasonable price for a 3rd Strike version? I've seen two in the past 12 months, one for £400 and one for £950?!
