What's the reason for Astro City CP design variations?

My cab's CP has this design, where it displays "Licensed by Sega" as opposed to the SEGA logo. I can barely find examples of this one online (they're mostly just the SEGA logo version) and I was wondering if there was any particular reason for the difference? https://neilsarcadediary.files.wordpress...

Re: Astro CRT blurry startup

Recently the machine has been booting up without the blurry screen issue. I'm unsure if it's the length of time it's not turned on for. For example use it one day and turn it on 24hrs later and it's fine. Leave it 48hrs maybe it starts off blurry. (I'm just theorising I haven't actually tested this ...

Re: Astro CRT blurry startup

That's what I thought it might be, leaky caps. It's totally stable when warm though.

Astro CRT blurry startup

My new AC cab has a beautiful burn free monitor with a crisp image, but I notice it takes a few minutes after power on to come clear. It's initially quite blurry and takes around 3 minutes to reach its proper look. A guy here suggested: "Some older high impedance CRT's start up cold blurry then shar...

Re: Effin' PCBs

Your Zero Team may have suicided. You should check the method to fix it @Dead Battery Society : http://www.arcadecollecting.com/dead/ (under Seibu) I fixed mine with this method. Oh ****. I had no idea it was fitted with a suicide battery. The guy who sold it to me clearly did. :problem: So burning...

Re: Effin' PCBs

10+ years and you don’t have a multi meter! They are dirt cheap and absolutely invaluable in this hobby. Lol, I have a multimeter, but in the UK. I've only just got a new cab here (kind of bought on impulse - a good deal is a good deal) so I haven't arranged for a native speaker to help me get one ...

Re: Effin' PCBs

china to uk might be a bit excessive in postal costs for repairs ! Yeah, that's not quite going to work. Fortunately there are plenty of PCB repair guys here, and very reasonable it seems, but I just hope they do clean work. Stating the obvious but did you check the 5V under load? Not yet got a mul...

Effin' PCBs

Every time I run through my collection another PCB seems to go tits up one way or another. I got a Zero Team PCB that's totally dead and not doing anything. It was, in fact, DOA, but I thought it was my supergun setup and a video sync issue with these particular boards. Turns out it was just the boa...

Re: Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

Ok thanks for that, I'm going to have a Google about and try to figure out the pros n cons of the different RPi -> JAMMA devices.

Re: Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

Ok thanks Charlie! Yes I've got the Pi already and been figuring it out for some time, but running wires direct from the JPAC to the buttons was kind of what I figured. This guy in the link I posted claims to have a perfect result on the Astro using his setup, but it was posted a while back. Would y...

Re: Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

For the Pi I saw a guy on YouTube who said he got a perfect setup using a JPAC and Lakka OS (apparently Retropi has fewer lo res display options). His video is here: https://m.hasntfiguredouthowtoembedyoutubeproperly.com/watch?v=uKYFKjiO6bc His list of items to get the setup going are as follows: Th...

Re: Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

I'm 100% sure that slot is empty. I can take pics tomorrow if necessary but I remember that's the first thing I noticed when inspecting under the CP.

Re: Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

Not needing a CPU upgrade then.

So what am I doing again? Buying the Atlas Adapter for $35 bucks seems to be most straightforward. It say it works with Pandora's Box multisystems so is it fair to assume it will work the same way with an RPi?

Adding two more buttons to Astro City cab!

Hey there boys n boys, long time no speak! :awe: I just got an Astro City cab that arrived today, and have a query. The guy sent me a 2p 6 button cab that's only wired for 4 buttons on each side. It's useless trying to speak to him about it - language barrier - but when trying to ask him how to get ...

Awesome, that's what I was after. I was hoping for more sideart stuff, but what's there is great (Rolling Thunder was one I was thinking of).

Thanks much. Anyone knows of any others I'd appreciate the info.

Cabinet sideart scan resource

Hey folks, long time no speak. Got a little project I'm working on, and short of PSing my own designs, I was wondering if there was a good online resource for old-style cab sideart? Looking for hi-res scans. On google I can only seem to find Mame related tat that people are charging incredible sums ...

Darius Burst AC Article & Casino Arcade tribute

Just published an article on Darius Burst Another Chronicle - the sexy beast that it is - over on Eurogamer.net. I know there are probably a few (damn lucky) cab owners here who should appreciate - and if you haven't have the privilege of playing it hopefully it paints a good picture: http://www.eur...
