It was unfortunately too late for me as well, at the time I saw his post I already bought he one from eBay.
But knowing Min Dong it might explode soon, so I will buy the Mean Well :D

Re: -5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Damn how could I miss that PSU ? :wtf:
Is there ANY board out there that needs those crazy 15/16A on the 5V rail that other PSUs provide?

Re: -5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Yeah I guess I'll go with the Mean Well since they are more common around here, but I need to figure out what the CPS2 and MVS boards actually need on the 5V rails.

Mean Well aren't bad either.
Which Mean Well PSU could you recommend? Because they are more common where I come from.

Re: -5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Hmmm I've just seen that you need to know how to search for Arcade PSUs :D The most obvious terms always end up in the most expensive items :D Is this sufficent for CPS2 / MVS ? It doesn't say anything about Watts: http://www.ebay.de/itm/New-Arcade-Switching-12V-5V-Power-Supply-8-Liner-Multicade-JAM...

Re: -5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Yeah this is what I meant, but I also just saw that there is a big problem ... these are usualy to drive a HDD or Optical Disc drive. They don't have enough Watts to power a CPS2 / MVS if I'm not mistaken? And whats with the Amps per rail ? Looking at Asayukis list, I don't think we'll get far with ...

There are external Molex PSUs in the size of the black unit in your pic.

Re: -5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Thank you Sp33dFr34k :)
Do you know how many Watts is enough to power a MVS and CPS2 ??

If you realy don't need -5V, I consider just to solder a Molex socket to my Supergun and power it with one of these external ATX PSUs.

-5V needed on MVS and CPS2 ?

Hi all,

I'm currently building a supergun for MVS and CPS2 boards and I'm having trouble finding information about the necessity of the -5V pins on these boards.
I read somehwere that only older Jamma boards needs this voltage, can anyone confirm this?

Re: Lost in Sega Hardware (Super Hang-On)

What you say is right, but there will be a situation where SHO cabs won't be available anymore or not on sale. The cab where this board came out was destroyed and I'm sure ther are more SHO cabs that had the same fate. Playing it with joysticks might not be the same as the original cab, but the clos...

Re: Lost in Sega Hardware (Super Hang-On)

Thank you for your answer ! I am currently building up on CPS2 and Neo Geo, which I love as hell ... but Super Hang-On man :-o :-o :-o I understand what you are saying and if I had the choice to buy a complete SHO cab I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Right now I might have the chance to get the PCB whi...
