The picture with the strip around the tube is not from my cab, I just found it on google. The thing on the back of the cab is just for indirect background lighting . Looks pretty nice in green or pink. If I were you, I would just replace the starter and tube (if the ballast still works). Everything ...

I think my method would work for you too. Not sure about the Astro City, but I have a New Astro City. The original ballast from my cab was okay, so I just had to swap the starter and the fluorescent tube itself. I use the cab with a step-down converter, so everything inside runs at 110V. To save some money I replaced the original screw star...
