Re: New Astro City replacement CRT question [noob]

And it's flat. That isn't a pro at all in my eyes. All CRTs should be curved. I have plenty of "curves" in storage. :awe: Wouldn't mind trading one or two for a beatiful flat Tosh or Sanwa screen. A modded Weiya could also do. I like flat screens too much. The flatter the better

Re: Nanao MS9 with Samsung tube

I'm pretty sure nobody in their right mind would choose differently ;) I actually know a few that absolutely love the Shangai Novel. And to be honest, while it's not a great tube, it looks much prettier than the Hitachi. Almost flat. Doesn't look bad at all with a modded Rodotron. I like it. :awe: ...

Indeed it is.

But between a Shangai Novel + 29E31S and an Hitachi + MS9/PM1745, I'll take the later. :awe:

Re: Nanao MS9 with Samsung tube

It fills without gaps in the edges, but the center is definitelly more round-shapped. Looks like an HItachi tube. An Hitachi tube like the one on the Capcom Impress and Super Neo 29??? An Hitachi tube like a Sega Racer cabinet. Big, fat and round shaped. Beautiful contrast and color, but fat. Forge...

The Toshibas are less curved in the center. I have 7 29" tubes, and besides the Intervideo which is almost flat, the Toshiba's are the less curved of them all.

Re: Nanao MS9 with Samsung tube

Sorry, it's been a while since I've checked on these forums.

So... The tube is a Samsung A68KVL74X01 as far as I can read on the label.

The Yoke resistance reads 8.5ohm Vertical and 1.2ohm Horizontal, respectively. Hope that helps. Boy... isn't that tube an heavy sucker... :eh:

Re: Nanao MS9 with Samsung tube

I'm not sure if the tube reference is that one you posted but, I have a Samsung tube that was pulled from a Le Mans 24H and before I got my hands on a Toshiba, It worked wonders with my Nanao MS9.

I can mesure the yoke resistances if you want. No inductance tho.

28 *tubes are useless on candy cabs plus those hitachi consumer set unluckely use no hitachi tubes but thomson or videcolor tubes both not the best. Rarely they used Philips Austria tubes wich are awesome! So If you are in luck you can take it for retrogaming and/or jamma test... Not true! :D Weche...

Re: Wei-Ya C31291A / samsung a68kvl74x02

necro bump. I confirm that this Samsung tube works with a Nanao MS9 (a68kvl74x01). I have one running an MS9 since forever. Took it out of a Le Mans 24H, paired with a Sanwa PM1745 which was as dead as Elvis. Now that I was looking online for matching tubes for this Sanwa chassis, I found this threa...

I had a similar issue as you're having.

Turns out the neckboard was faulty and some components had to be replaced.
Doesn't mean it's your issue, but it can be related to that. Send it to a professional.

Used to have a PGM just for that game.

In the end, it turned out to be a gorgeous borefest of a game.

The enemy AI is random at best. Gfx are marvelous, the ost is pretty much boring, narator is boring and the non-grenade'ish C button makes it pale.

I'd rather play Cyber Lip over this one. :awe:

it has signal! if you check closely, you can see the KOF98 intro fading out. Also, screen volts is not too high. Ordered some parts, they have to come yet.

Two MS9's kickin the bucket in a month...

Hi there! Unfortuatelly the half of the Nanao's MS9 I have are crapping out. Last year two of them got revived with collapse issues and/or recapping. However, these two remaining chassis (one tube, Hitachi) are f)(%ing up. Not really sure were the problem's coming from any of them: https://youtu.be/...

Chop her right away!

I have 3 of those, none to be played upright. I also had one painted in black, which I deeply regretted in the long run and had to repaint. Whitey it is!
