Re: New Astro City Speaker Replacement

Getting better sound of my ac became an obsession for me a couple of years ago I've tried a bunch of cheapy replacements speakers but was never happy. Still on my list to try are some Tang Band W3-593SF they're a bit pricey though the audiophile community seems to like them. There are a bunch of spe...

Re: Need computer speakers that fit Astro City!!???

Mr Jammas thread is good, I keep meaning to buy some of those tangband full range they look really nice.

As it stands I have some half decent(ish) 3" drivers running off a little Class D amp and little subwoofer, so much bette than the crappy sega speakers.

Re: Original Astro Speaker upgrade

Ah crap news about those guan speakers Sp33dFr34k. Back to the drawing board I guess :/ The z5500 ones look nice but the individual speakers are quite expensive on fleabay. They look good and according to this page they are full range. http://soundnews.ro/2011/05/29/logitech-z906-review-english-vers...

Nice find, they look like they could be half decent. They're not shielded though :/, saying that though the original sega speakers aren't shielded.

Re: Original Astro Speaker upgrade

Yeah I use a little digital amp for stereo sources (see previous post) does the job, and I've added a cheap powered sub.

That's true, I'll give them a punt after christmas and report back. The ones you posted are worryingly inexpensive ;)

Re: Original Astro Speaker upgrade

I never found any better ones than those I posted earlier, I'd love to know if their are better. I just added a small powered sub and it made the world of difference. edit: Just found these wonder if they are any good http://www.aliexpress.com/item/guan-Audio-3-inch-Full-Range-DIY-Speaker-Woolen-Sur...

At some point before the crap hit the fan someone posted a link detailing which Pal revision different boards have. Does anyone have that link?

Re: Original Astro Speaker upgrade

Alas my astro is wrapped up in storage for winter. It's pretty straight forward though. I connected one of those male plugs to the speaker output of my amp that goes straight in to the female socket leading to the speakers. I made a female socket (like the one in the astro) to phono lead male which ...

Re: Original Astro Speaker upgrade

Hi, the Lepai will do the job and they have pretty good sound quality for the price (even better if you fancy changing some caps and the OPAMP). I would still use a high to low level line convertor as well. This is the amp I used http://hifimediy.com/amplifiers/diy-amplifiers/T1-M-amplifier?sort=p.p...

Re: Headphones in your cab?

Maybe the headphone section in your amp doesn't have the oomph to drive the Cans? Oh you tried it with others could just be faulty?... maybe pick up a cheapy headphone amp? Or build a CMOY or something?

Re: Knight's Chance (MVS)

I agree with the general consensus, it looks great but the game itself seems lacking. There's a market though the die hard Neo fans lap this stuff up :) I'm pretty sure we will see more from NeoBitz he's been working on this and the Neo Geo SDK for years and has mentioned another project, which has ...

Astro City PSU powering an amp

I've heard the Astro doesn't have the best power supply and I was wondering if adding an efficient little 12v digital amp might add to much load?

Astro city replacement speakers

The speakers in my astro were a little worse for wear so I've been searching fora replacement in the uk. Just in case anyone needs some now or in the future. I found some pretty decent and reasonably priced 3" speakers at cpc Farrell(£10 each). they are not earth shattering but they are definitely b...

Well I grew a pair had a go and I'm still here to live to tell the tale :P

For posterity, the brown and yellow flipped the image the right way up but it was mirrored so I had to flip the other one around (blue red) as well.
