Re: Advice needed on building discharge tool

I just spoke to grantspain (i'm taking the chassis to him on Sunday) He said thinner wire is better otherwise it's possible for charge to be retained in the wire if it's too thick. Makes sense. He advised i just use one of the wires so i removed the blue and white ones, i'm just using the brown now....

Ok thanks man. Can change that.

I have lots of different types of cables/wire.

Which kind is best?

Re: Advice needed on building discharge tool

Cool, i was worried about that surprising me!

I removed the entire monitor first as it was tricky to get in via the back. Is that ok?

Also, about to try discharging, where would the best place be to attach the wire end? Would it be the metal cage or the grey metal monitor surround?

Re: Advice needed on building discharge tool

Haha, anticlimatic suits me just fine!

I use Tommy Walsh Poundland stuff all the time, first time i've trusted my life to his stuff.

If the pics will help others that's great :)

Thank you man

Re: Advice needed on building discharge tool

Ah yeah i thought about using a jump lead, but i was a bit scared of knocking the clip off so went for a windy version. Here's what i put together, do you guys think it looks safe to use? https://i.imgur.com/nZLKaa6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JVVtHRV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/3L9BtGu.jpg https://i.imgur....

Advice needed on building discharge tool

I need to discharge several of my cabs so i can remove the chassis for service. I'm building a tool as per the instructions on the wiki. Chatting with Devil Soundwave and he advised a cheap screwdriver as being best so as to avoid any chrome coating etc. And some wire along the lines of extension ca...

JP CPS2 with English Test Menu?

I just fired up a JP Street Fighter 2 Turbo / Grandmaster Challenge. The test menu came up in English. Any idea why this is? It doesn't appear to be phoenixed. The buttons on the mobo are green but they could have been changed I guess. Would a US mobo cause this? Bit stumped so any help appreciated!

Re: VS kit for linking cabinets

Cool no probs, I'll have to make one up on Thurs or Fri so can post up details then. It's actually possible with just two of these looms, but i've ended up having to use an extra one as an extension. The plus side is though, that this way it's easier to split apart when you want to move the cabs. I ...

Re: Wei Ya / Huaii and Toshiba Monitor question

Someone on the Neo Arcadia forum reverse engineered the advanced remote board for Toshiba pure flat monitors. See if you can track one down. There's a thread on the subject here somewhere. What cab is the Wei-ya in? If it's an AWSD/Egret 3 the remote board is behind the coin mech. Been searching fo...

Re: VS kit for linking cabinets

I've found that they're quite easy to make with the **** chinese looms you can get. You need 3 of them and they're about £6 each. You need to modify them a bit. Solder a few extra wires, and replace a few. The rest can be crimped. I need to make another one up for a tournament at the weekend, if any...

Re: Wei Ya / Huaii and Toshiba Monitor question

Hi man, thanks a lot for the response. Will check for that thread, thank you. The advanced board would have options for colour on it you think? Is that the only way to adjust those settings? The Wei Ya is in a Blast City, nothing in the panel, but will check around the coin mech and see if i can fin...

Re: PS3 running inside Blast City/NAC

Thanks a lot for this info guys. I could get a picture on the tri sync monitors after adjusting the XBOX resolution but i could keep it stable. Every time i resized it it disappeared (lost sync?) Pretty frustrating, but I found a couple of machines with flatscreen crts in them. These worked fine, bu...

Wei Ya / Huaii and Toshiba Monitor question

So i've been trying to get an XBOX inside a Blast City. I can't for the life of me get it to work on any of the machines with the manual sync monitors. It seems as soon as you adjust the size and position of the picture beyond a certain point the picture disappears. I found two of my machines have t...

Re: PS3 running inside Blast City/NAC

Thats good to know, thanks.

There's no problem in sourcing an NTSC PS3, but do you know what cables would i need then to hook it up?
