Re: Makvision in a Blast CIty?
There was a man that was sheltering under a tree during a storm. When a passer-by asked him what he would do when the tree he was under was soaked and no longer offered protection he said "that's ok, I'll just find another tree nearby." Cabs come and go; those with good monitors are much rarer, tho...

Re: Naomi Netboot questions....
I'm not a technical mod and so have no jurisdiction here, but Netboot how-to talk is indeed not permitted. Naomi is - somewhat bizarrely, give the age of the platform - still a platform that has relatively new releases (2009 at least). I'm sure a simple Google search for "Naomi Netboot" "transfergam...

Is that Ringtail's gaff? If so, I also hear he has GuitarFreaks and Drummania V6 (one of the newer releases) en route as well.

Re: jammaboards.com - questionable quality
How is the merchandise shoddy when the wire gauges are clearly marked as the OP said? Because it's a) a terribly poor design choice (a single wire for 4 individual solder points? Let alone a wire gauge more fit for signalling than power) and b) almost certainly wasn't clearly marked as such on the ...

Cheap? Yes.
Shoddy? Yes.
Incompetent? Very possibly.
Scam? Well, I'll have to disagree with you there. The wires clearly say 22AWG, for one.

I don't know the answer but I get the same thing from my Naomi setup when I route it through a cheap 12V amp to the cab speakers (this is in an Egret II).

You've got the second power connector attached (the 6-pin one)?

Re: Connector Identification, again.
Dunno about the US, but for the UK you can pick up the XAP-08V-1 from here: http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=7356137&CMP=e-2072-00001000" - min order of 10, which isn't that bad. To be honest, since most of the less common JST connectors are only available for sale in bulk, for one-o...

Re: Makvision in a Blast CIty?
I don't have a Blast City, but I can tell you that the Makvision 29" is a pure flat monitor (like the Sanwa PFX), and is in fact a (barely) re-badged Wei-Ya C3129D

Re: resolution in regards to dual sync 15/24khz
Screen resolution on a monitor which has a fixed horizontal refresh rate is a factor of two main aspects: the number of lines, and the vertical refresh rate (which is also not always very adjustable on these types of monitors). You will not get any resolution of 640x480 or 800x600 at 50Hz or 60Hz on...

Help! I was turning my monitor on my egret 2 to verticle and whist doing so I heard something break and a lot of air blowing out from the back. When I went to look there was some glass on the bottom. Is it a gonner? What can I do to fix this? That sounds like a textbook necking - you've fractured t...

Re: 360 ---> Cabinet: 4:3 display advice
16:9 will certainly letterbox, the FSD dash does the same Though with newer versions of Freestyle Dash you can change it to 4:3 in the options - I run it full screen on my cab. DeathSmiles will definitely display in 4:3 in the arcade modes - not sure the Xbox 360 modes will, though. Personally, I w...

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"
....and "pop" and "soda" are equally good words for it, just depends on what part of the country you're in. If you asked for "soda" here, you'd get a very tasteless fizzy water (that some philistines ruin a perfectly good whisky with)! Personally, I think the term "Japanese-style cabinet" (in the c...

Re: The Term "Candy Cab"
There are precedents in literature that strongly suggest that Duck was the first producer of waterproof heavy-duty adhesive tape, and it is commonly known as Duck Tape (as well as the useless and restricting "Duct" tape variant). It was originally used for sealing ammunition cases, which had nothing...

Re: How much heat does it take to damage a pcb?
Depends on how fragile the PCB is, and whether it is powered up at the same time or not. If the other PCB is just sitting in there unplugged, then I highly expect the 360 would shut down from overheating long before most PCBs would risk damage. The core chips in an Xbox 360 exceed 60oC when the case...
