Sega Ringedge 1 & 2 Differences
Hi, very long time since I've been on the forums, just managed to win a Buyee auction for a Ringedge board with a few spares. So on to my query, just wondered what the exact differences are between the 2, I'm aware the CPIU, GPU etc are different but what else? Tried to find some information and the...

Re: Initial D3 Card Reader Emulation
oh interesting stuff ...will have to have a proper sit down and read later :shifty: so does this run with a Naomi /chihiro and does away with the cards ? Yeah, at the moment you knock up a female serial cable from CN8 from the board (not forgetting to put the Naomi 2 into serial mode via the dip sw...

Initial D3 Card Reader Emulation
Hi Guys, not seen information on here about this so thought I would share the news. The Initial D3 card reader has been emulated successfully using some python code, it's currently running on a windows machine and a few cables need knocking up but the creator has put the code out available for anyon...

Naomi 2 Issue
Hello, To those that might have read I recently had a Naomi 2 board die on me, so I purchased another unit from a member here and 1st thing I did due to recommendation was to remove the "supercap" which does look like it was about to "go". Well plugged my Naomi 2 in to my cabinet with netboot setup ...

Sega Type 2 Gun setup issues
Hello, After finally being able to pick up a gun bezel for the Naomi UR I have tried to get it all up and running over the weekend. On the initial setup and powering up the system it would not power up and a funny buzzing/humming sound was coming from the sub-woofer & no LED's lit up, so disconnecte...

Re: Sega Naomi Upright monitor retrofit...
A little more screen for the actual game would be nice but I guess that's the problem with the shape of the cabinet itself! The window the game is running in is larger than the stock monitor in the Naomi (or any monitor in any regular sized cab for that matter). Opened it up on my phone initially s...

Re: Sega Naomi Upright monitor retrofit...
That doesn't look half bad! I'm guessing it's running mame with a front end? With the move guides along the bottom it looks pretty smart... A little more screen for the actual game would be nice but I guess that's the problem with the shape of the cabinet itself!

Re: Sega Naomi Upright monitor retrofit...
I have to say something like that has also already crossed my mind... The big screen and the screen on top is overkill. But with a 32" vertical screen and a fitting bezel I could imagine this wouldn't look too bad. And I would place the "instruction strip" on the bottom of th screen. I thought the ...

The only place you should be showing pictures of this finished monstrosity should be in the Gallery of ****! :problem: You won't be annoying anyone you will just look foolish :( Sounds like someone lacks a sense of humour! And maybe foolish in your opinion... Thankfully it's just that... Opinion! W...

Sega Naomi Upright monitor retrofit...
The monitor in Naomi Upright has some significant screen burn in so I have always wanted to replace it, a 42inch ex display plasma screen came up for free from my dad's work place. It's an SD display used for the odd presentation in the foyer etc. Well I didn't think it would work but after having m...

Re: Naomi 2 won't boot!
Well a little update... After getting the hopper board out and remembering somewhere that someone said its basically a Naomi 1 board I thought I would try and connect it all up after removing the 2 mounted boards as no searching of the models on them gives me any information (840-0130B - this also h...

Re: Naomi 2 won't boot!
I'll give it a clean tomorrow, got side tracked building a pc for someone (if you can call that side tracked). The closest I have in terms of a filter board is this: 20141130_230841_resized.jpg From the hopper control board i got with my cabinet, I'm hoping I can use that? It's just been sitting in ...

Re: Naomi 2 won't boot!
Hope I can save it to...ok went through the nerve wracking process of de-soldering it. I get all nervous when someone mentions soldering, managed to get it removed, I can't see what looks like any serious damage but I'll go over the board with some white spirits and a few cotton buds in the areas it...

Re: Naomi 2 won't boot!
I think I may have found the issue, a leaking capacitor near the battery. It looks like there is some corrosion of sorts, would anyone know how to remove it and then fix any possible issues?

Naomi 2 won't boot!
Ok, 1st of all a little back story, the Naomi 2 board has been happily netbooting for sometime, my Naomi Upright driver cab had been sitting unused for maybe 6 months or so due to lack of space in the garage. I cleaned it up somewhat, reconnected the pedals and turned it on, booted up straight away....
