Re: GamesMaster: The Oral History
Read-Only Memories books are outstanding. Everything I've got from them (Mega Drive, Dreamcast, SNK and Metal Slug history books) has been excellent, no doubt this will be too. The SNK and Metal Slug books were published by Bitmap books That'll teach me not to check before posting. I knew I had mor...

Re: New SAMBA DE AMIGO Arcade machine - Very Rare
Incredible find. I played the arcade version maybe once or twice at Sega World in London sometime in the late 90s/early 00s, and I rinsed the hell out of the home versions. Very jealous of whoever is able to buy this. Odd that the marquee is for Ver.2000 (the update with more songs) but the cart is ...

How much did you have to pay at the time to get the full whack including that stick?

Re: Sega Astro City Mini
First impressions are really good. It's a nice size and just as cute as in the pictures. It's hard to grasp how diddy the stick and buttons are until you see them in person, but they are genuinely good. They've got wonderful tiny microswitch feeling I love. The screen being 16:9 is the obvious flaw,...

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou EXA LABEL
Random (unimportant) question - is the art new, or a previously produced piece that's just been unused until now? Just curious as to whether the original artist was commissioned again for the re-release.

Re: Mikado Game Center Europe
A crowdfunding campaign could work. Maybe offer a future entry as rewards? I live quite far away and even before Covid, I had no idea when I would be able to visit. But I would happily contribute to a campaign knowing I would be able to come over with a ticket in hand if I find a way in the months o...

"Let's be honest here - Sega isn't going to make an SG-1000 mini"
This is Sega. Never assume something being (or not being) a sound financial decision is definitely factored in when it comes to Sega. Sega fans know this by now.

Re: Dodonpachi Saidaioujou EXA LABEL
I'm no expert player, but those Exa mode changes sound great to me. Always preferred DFK's 4-button system for hypers than (S)DOJ's and it sounds like there's more bullet cancelling which is in line with my tastes. Not that I'm expecting to ever play it anyway.

Re: MiSTer FPGA - Cave 68000 Core Beta Released
Dunno what properly means here, but definitely not the case. See the docs from Mister github. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki/Why-FPGA Some people insist it's not emulation but rather true hardware replication, while any simulation using a traditional CPU should be referred to as e...

Re: MiSTer FPGA - Cave 68000 Core Beta Released
Yeah, I say this should be more accurate, not necessarily that it definitely will be. If properly implemented, it should be identical to the PCB, but I don't really know anything about programming FPGAs and no idea how good the guy doing this one is.

Re: MiSTer FPGA - Cave 68000 Core Beta Released
This is should be completely cycle-accurate by effectively replicating the chipset, and supposedly identical to the PCB.
Audio isn't done yet, I'm guessing? Still very cool though.

Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies
Someone who knows better than me can go into more detail (or correct me if I'm wrong), but I believe switching between 15k and 31k while the monitor is powered is not recommended as it could damage the chassis. I think you need to just pick one or the other, and down/upscale as needed.

The Gematsu article has the press release where it says: Some parts (including sound, music, and several graphics) were not recoverable from the source code, so the particular emphasis is placed on involving as many members of the original Westone team as possible in the project to be true to the ga...

Things I really like about the game: [stuff] Things that annoy me: [more stuff] After completing it, I think I agree with pretty much everything you've said here. It's fantastic to play, the art is subjective but I like it, but the music is boring throughout. I was hoping that as we made our way th...

Re: Streets of Rage 4
Had a lot of fun with it last night playing co-op with my partner. I think it plays great. It's definitely more juggly than most (particularly old) brawlers, but it's an improvement IMO. SoR1-3 wasn't better for specifically not having it, and the mechanic seems well thought-out and blends nicely wi...
