Re: GroovyMAME/UME for dummies

Someone who knows better than me can go into more detail (or correct me if I'm wrong), but I believe switching between 15k and 31k while the monitor is powered is not recommended as it could damage the chassis. I think you need to just pick one or the other, and down/upscale as needed.

Re: Aquario of the Clockwork /Tokei Jikake no Aquario

The Gematsu article has the press release where it says: Some parts (including sound, music, and several graphics) were not recoverable from the source code, so the particular emphasis is placed on involving as many members of the original Westone team as possible in the project to be true to the ga...

Re: Streets of Rage 4

Things I really like about the game: [stuff] Things that annoy me: [more stuff] After completing it, I think I agree with pretty much everything you've said here. It's fantastic to play, the art is subjective but I like it, but the music is boring throughout. I was hoping that as we made our way th...

Local or remote? I tried multiplayer on steam for like half an hour. Most matches wouldn't connect and the few that did were unplayable. I've refunded since so i can't retry it.
Local, PS4. Not tried online.

Re: Streets of Rage 4

Had a lot of fun with it last night playing co-op with my partner. I think it plays great. It's definitely more juggly than most (particularly old) brawlers, but it's an improvement IMO. SoR1-3 wasn't better for specifically not having it, and the mechanic seems well thought-out and blends nicely wi...

Re: Doom Eternal

I'm enjoying it more now. I think the start of the game is pretty bad - far too much introduced far too quickly without any time to get used to the last thing, and the state you're in without upgrades makes the game significantly less fun. Now I have a lot more ammo and a selection of mods, the comb...

Re: Doom Eternal

Disappointed so far. Dropped in the middle with too many new mechanics introduced too quickly and very poorly explained, and not convinced about the combat changes so far. The UI is **** awful, some of the worst in videogames in years (and with how bad videogame UI regularly is, that's saying someth...

Re: exA-Arcadia

Yeah, it looks fun and I'd like to play it, but I can imagine for an operator outside Japan, spending $1k+ on Gimmick would feel ROUGH. You'd have to be really confident in your customer base that it'd be worth it. And I don't think there's many around that would.

Re: Streets of Rage 4

It looks like something you'd find on the steam indie sale. For the SOR title, I expect a lot more. Music will probably be great, but the game just looks like another cheap steam title. If SoR2 or 3 came out right now, they'd be right on sale next to those indie games and no one would blink twice. ...

Re: Senjin (M2 shmup for All Net)

I'm curious as to the actual individuals involved too, just out of nerdy interest in the design pedigree. Harder to track personnel shifts in Japanese companies than western ones though. I expect members of the ShotTriggers team were involved - there's a Q&A with some of them from June last year but...

Re: exA-Arcadia

AtB is on Unity, right? I have never personally used it, but I heard it's not much better for lag unless you put some serious work into it. 2 frames from the hardware + something like 3/4 internally, maybe?

Re: Why Shaturn Grail?

Cheers. Yeah i was bidding on a Saturn pad which had a similar colour way (OG) But lots it. I have a few pennies in amazon vouchers burning a hole in my pocket so will likely pick one up there. How much and where is the USB to SS converter ? There's no converter. There are two separate pad SKUs. On...

Re: Why Shaturn Grail?

Yeah, I got a Saturn-plug and a USB one. They seem very close to the originals AFAICT. The shoulder buttons may be slightly less clicky? Part of the problem is that it's hard to compare a brand-new pad to one that's seen 25 years of use, unless someone can find a NOS Saturn pad to do a more direct c...

I'm impressed if it plays in proper 3:4 like that. Very, very interested to see side-by-side comparison videos. Wouldn't have been easy to do.

Re: Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh

I was particularly upset to hear about Konbo closing because months before its announcement, my partner and I semi-joked about the idea of me quitting my job and opening a coffee shop with candy cabs. My other big hobby aside from games is coffee and I've often said that if I was going to work in an...

That's such a shame, I never got the chance to go up there in the end. :( Did everything right by my estimation as well.

That looks great. I think you're supposed to use the bomb more to get through some of the harder patterns, as it's a constantly recharging thing. It hits "Max power" pretty quickly in that video once used. Really appreciate the English subtitles for the story VOs at the top of the screen too (althou...

Re: Items you can't afford on Yahoo Japan Auctions

They came back on my 7th email last night after I mentioned getting debt recovery involved. Basically said my account has been inactive for a year, and the money is now theirs. Said it’s in the terms. I’ve checked the terms and I can’t see anything that says that. I’ve asked for the location of tho...

Nothing being scrapped then? As long as they're safe from the bin, that's the most important thing.
