Looks like a Sega V1, works well enough but can cause some issues due to some wonkiness in how it handles coin up. There is a "Version B" variant of this board with that issue resolved, if I recall correctly.
Sega V2 or Capcom I/Os are the most commonly used.

I'd say the Capcom I/O is the best since it creates the 3.3v needed for Naomi.
Up the Irons!

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
works good. great for using sega games with analog controls.
rev B of this i/o is better IMHO, since it handles button 4,5,6 on the auxiliary connector. simpler for dealing with kick harnesses.
rev A does button 1-5 on the jamma edge and button 6,7,8 on the auxiliary connector

Yes it works good. I never quite understood the 'verison' of these things - can someone explain?
What's the difference, and which one is the A and B versions? I own both of them..
You have the one idchappy is asking about
http://jvspac.kirurg.org/img/io-838-13683-02.jpg"
which has SMD capacitors and identifies itself as 838-13683D Ver1.09 , pcb id 838-13683-02
and the other one
http://jvspac.kirurg.org/img/io-838-13683-93.jpg"
Which has more hole through components, and identifies itself as 838-13683B Ver1.07, pcb id 838-13683-93

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
Unless I'm mistaken, everything shown so far in this thread is considered version A or version 1.
The B version/v2 is the one in the metal box:

version 1 rev A

Version 1 rev B

the main diff is in button 4,5,6 handling. see my earlier post.
Version 2

Same button pinout as v1 rev A , with mono & stereo audio amp.

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
I'm pretty sure it's no "version 2". If you open the black metal box (or run a diagnostics), you will see that it's one of the normal jamma ones inside. So the "v2" is just the packaging.
At least the confusion is complete
I'll write this up on the wiki once we reach consensus.

I've got one of the V2's but I'm not sure if it's easily accessible at the moment - I'll check and if it is I'll open it up and take some pictures.

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
The version 2 (boxed) contains the rev. A board (838-13683-02). Just look at the location of the jumper JP1:

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
aaah, I see, V2 contains the V1A board, with 90 degree connectors, along with a sound amp.
Not so much of a V2... just a different form facor, but everyone calls the "Version 2" jamma i/o
case solved ?

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
So to sum up, there are TWO io boards for jamma use:
838-13683-93
First version made, has hole through capacitors.
Often called revison B, as it has sticker on it. It is however a standalone product and no other revision of this design is known.
*button 4,5,6 on kick connector
838-13683-02
Second version made, has SMD capacitors, and a higher "Version" when displaying diagnostics.
Sometimes called Rev A, as it is wrongly thought to be older than 838-13683-93.
Features:
* Button 1-5 on Jamma Edge
* button 6,7,8 on kick connector (?)
610-0598
Sometimes called version 2. It's simply a metal box with an amplified and the 838-13683-02 board inside.
About right?

Re: Are these Jamma> Jvs adaptors any good?
Did a bit of JVS research on this today, and updated the JVS page on the wiki.
To sum up, both of the Sega JAMMA IO's have identical operation (same pinout on kick and jamma edge) - and there is a LOT of wrong info about them on the web..
