Naomi DIMM firmware upgrade - the hard way :)

Post by invzim »

Did this a few weeks back, and recorded it for your viewing pleasure:

I had to use my old Sony DV camera for the super close-up shots, so some parts of the video is 4:3.

Got it from ELFA 3 years ago for a different project - the receipt says it's an M29W160EB70N6E, but I think most 16mbit/2mbyte flash pieces will do.

I've replaced the tsop on 3 or 4 dimm boards with just a soldering iron. :)

Awesome work, are you the creator of the jvs-pac ? If so, I love you ! Great work !

Btw, I hesitate to buy a hot air desoldering gun, goal here is to read chips from 120in1 mvs cartridges. They contain the games but are filled with **** hacks and miss a few great games. How hard do you think it would be to do so ? I own a nand reader, which I use on my xbox 360, any way to re-use it you think ? Noob here, but willing to learn, and hopefully create an awesome xxxin1 mvs cartridge.
