Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh
I've been working on this quietly for a while, and we're finally open!
Konbo is a Japanese arcade inspired cafe in Edinburgh. We have candy cabs running a range of games (all original PCBs, of course) in a pleasant cafe environment, with good quality coffee & locally sourced pastries, cakes, plus some Japanese sodas and snacks. 2 Blasts, 2 NACs, 2 Astros, imported stools and a mix of vintage and repro arcade art.
We just opened this past weekend, and we've had a great response so far. A nice mix of casual and hardcore gamers, all different ages, plus people just coming in for a quiet coffee and a cake
Please come visit us if you're in the area. There's a full list of games, plus opening hours, directions, etc. on the website: http://www.konbo.co.uk
Here's some photos for now:

Re: Konbo arcade cafe, Edinburgh
i seen this had opened at the weekend, best of luck with your endeavour. ill be through in edinburgh in the next few weeks and be sure to pop in.
is possible to get games changed around? as thats an issue we've had with the 1.5 arcade places through here that the staff aren't knowledgeable on the equipment so tech faults aren't being identified and addressed and no shmups to play (even if we bring our own ) as they're scared to change games (megabytes is not worth the time imo they can't even clean their crockery - greasy coffee no thanks, and super bario doesn't have any vert cabs so despite the fact that my studio is within 1 minute walking distance of it I've been in twice for a total of 1 hour)

Yeah, absolutely, we're taking regular requests for game changes. Got over 40 PCBs we're rotating, plus happy to put certain games on if we get a bit of notice or aren't too busy on the day! The team are getting trained up on games & cab maintenance too, so shouldn't be an issue there
Got 1 dedicated vert cab (Blast) so will always have at least 1 shmup running.

Am down in that neck of the woods in July, I might have time to nip in past. Out of interest how close/far is it from Grassmarket.

Amazing! If I'm ever in Edinburgh for work, I'll be sure to make an effort to come down!
You've nailed the game side of it, so what's your coffee like? What sort of grinder/espresso setup are you running? I saw you get your beans from Artisan Roast and those guys are great - did you go through their training as well? I'm one of those massive coffee snobs so if you hit that, I'll be dead impressed. (And jealous.)

Cheers for the comments!
garrz32: it's about a 15 minute walk from Grassmarket.
Dache: We have a beautiful La Marzocco GB5, an Anfim grinder, and we're well trained up

That's a really nice looking setup you've created. Coffee, cabs and cool decals/posters. Really hope it all goes well for you. Great to see that Edmond is in the mix too, he'll keep everyone in line
