Another big patch for Boom Beach today, it's getting better all the time. Come on, who is up for it?

We need more boom beach players! We have a nice little task force of 10 now, but we're expanding to 25 to do some of the bigger missions. New cannon fodder players more than welcome

Re: Arcade Otaku MMO clans/guilds/alliances
My account is still linked to Google Play but I can't find the motivation to play it again. Dunno if I was doing something wrong but I found there was almost nothing I could do in it - cleared all the easy bases and the rest were absolutely impossible to hit with the troop levels I had and it looked like they would take weeks to get to a level they could hit them.
Was I doing something wrong or is the initial phase of the game really, really slow?

Did you upgrade your radar? Afaicr you're stuck in the noob zone until you do... I didn't find it really slow, but there are some leaps in advancement. Once you clear your map of everything you're strong enough to defeat, you'll be invaded by more cpu and player enemies every few hours. Any player bases you can't beat will end up with a yellow exclamation mark symbol next to them after 48 hours or so, you can then click to replace them with different random opponents. Who you're matched with is based on your current victory point count (trophies) with 100 point +/- window, so you shouldn't end up matched against too much stuff you've got no hope in hell of ever defeating...
I would say the quickest way to advance in the early stages is to concentrate on upgrading your landing craft, gun boat and troops. The big early leaps are at landing craft size 12 (3 heavy / 6 zooka) and then 16 (2 tanks / 4 heavy / 8 zooka). Statues can make a big big difference too, concentrate on dark statues to begin with, particularly gunboat but then aim for a decent psc and rr statue to accelerate the loot you bring in and your statue advancement.
There is a lot of tactical subtlety to the game which isn't at first that obvious, similar to coc. You have to pick the right tools (troops) for the right job (defences) and use your gunboat wisely to either eliminate or disable anything of threat. There are some useful "exploits" too, such as the tank-medic combo, smokey warriors etc which could loosely be compared to coc strategies like dragboning and gowipe.
I'm really enjoying it and the game is moving forward all time time with new features and game modes like the new mega crab event. I think we'll see something similar to clan wars sooner rather than later.

Re: Arcade Otaku MMO clans/guilds/alliances
Yeah I was focussing on radar and offensive upgrades, sidelining defenses. I seem to recall I'd maxed myself offensively at a certain level but it wasn't enough to do much against any of the bases on the map. Meant I was stumped raising enough funds to upgrade the HQ bar waiting and hoping for something to pop up I could beat. Bit like Clash of Clans but with a 48 hour wait between nexts!
I'm not taking Hordarian beyond max TH8 in CoC, so maybe once that is maxed I'll bung BB back on. P-saw is taking next to none of my time to level to max TH7.

I've started a boom beach guide here; http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=33598
Any chance this is worthy of sticky status?
