Tube is A46JDL60X

Routed all the cables tonight and actually had a play. The background noise isn't noticeable when there's audio, so no hurry to sort that. Lovely cab to play on, the hood directs the audio nicely and illuminates well with the monitor and marquee light, 19" is perfect for MVS - really pleased.

Just need to get the screen cover polished, some screws (and where the hell will I find M3 carriage bolts?) and all the important stuff is done for now.

Have you tried http://www.cromwell.co.uk" ? I have a work account and their local rep's a good 'un - usually if something's not online or in the catalogue he can source it. Failing that I also have an account with a great fastener shop just 5 mins from the office. I'll make a couple of calls on Monday. Chances are I can get them FOC if I ask nicely. What quantity and length(s) are you looking for and do you need nuts too?

ahh... that's a real 19", very unusual size not to be confused with American 19" which is actually 19V (A48...) and corresponds to European 20".

I need M3 carriage bolts, ideally chromed or stainless, zinc plated last resort. 20mm will do.

Thanks for checking :D I remember the correct bolts came with the NOS Asahi Seiko mechs nvs grabbed for mine (now Ralphs) and thomj's Aero tables. There's actually a cheapish one on YAJ now with all the bolts so I'll see if I can grab that.

Novus arrived today, may have time to attack the screen cover later.

I've given Silvo a quick go on the hood. Seems to do quite a nice job on the lighter swirls but it's not aggressive enough on scratches. May give Brasso a go later if I get time. Have a suite of polishes at the moment:

Silvo
Brasso
Novus 1, 2, 3
Greygate Plastic Polish

I'm hoping that the Novus 1 and 2 assist some more as base products. The rest seem to be more for final polishes than removing scratches.

The manual makes reference to an MV4FT. I've just checked and mine is a MV4FT so I'm both pleased that I've got the right board in the cab and satisfied that it's compatible. Need to do the earthing thing though, that's going to be fun. There's potentially enough room in the cab to convert to UK voltage with a hardwired stepdown... Hmm.

Polishing agents in terms of effectiveness on the screen plastic with hand work, in ranking order:
1) Brasso
2) Novus 3
3) Novus 2
4) Silvo

I've ran out of Greygate so can't comment on that.

Brasso wadding is doing a decent job, but it's going to take many hours to get a decent result. May try mechanical means.

In other news, earthing the cab doesn't stop the noise...

Thanks to thomj I've identified it's the motherboard making the noise. Good, don't have to mess about with the PSU any more.

Nice. When I got mine I thought swapping the mobo was a long shot at fixing the speaker noise but was pleasantly surprised when it worked.

I'll try recapping the motherboard audio section rather than find a new one first. Audio was never that great in the last cab it was in and I just put it down to being not in stereo.

Finally got the hood and lightbox sealed properly. You need 4mm thick foam strip and a lot of patience.

I do. For some reason I've had the mini marquee for ages, so I bought the cart to go with it. It's not a terrible game by any means, certainly stands up with most of the middle of the road side scrolling fighters, and the music is pretty cool.

If only I could find out/remember WTF happened to my Street Hoop/Twinkle Star/Puzzle Bobble minis though...

I might have a spare street hoop one around here. I remember you having the TSS one for sale (along with both the others) and I think it went...

It's certainly better than Ninja Combat and on a par with Sengoku I reckon :)
