Dragon Ball FighterZ

Post by LEGENOARYNINLIA »

Best looking 3D video game ever and still no thread? Dragon Ball JeeZ you guyz. :whoopsie:

This is the first time since I first saw Virtua Fighter 5 that I've been really impressed by 3D graphics.

This looks even better than Guilty Gear Xrd! :awe: I'm going to have to figure out a way to play this next year.

It really is :awe:

I've never been into dragon ball, let alone watched more than a single episode. My interest in fighters has been rekindled with this game though and it has got so many others excited, certainly has the drool factor. It makes capcom's latest efforts look rather bland and that's being poilite.

Been watching gameplay footage the past few days. No matter how many times I watch the footage, I don't get sick of it. Keep replaying these videos. This is the fighter I wanted as a kid. Really wish this came out like 10 years ago so I had time to invest in to it. Can't wait!

I agree, this one and Guilty gear have the best graphics of this generation, my top 10 ranking goes like this:

1: Guilty Gear Xrd
2: Dragon Ball Fighters Z
3: Injustice 2
4: Mortal Kombat XL
5: Fighting Layer EX
6: King of Fighters 14 (I like the art style)
7: Tekken 7
8: Marvel vs Capcom Infinite
9: Killer Instinct
10: Street Fighter 5 (worst art style on a SF ever)

I don't get along with dragon ball at all - but arc are really doing some top notch work and this appears to be a great production; appears to be a great match for the character/style. Talk about leveraging strengths in a character/tone/visual style...

...Now if they did a fist of the north star game, there's a fan in me for that.

I'm a fan of Toriyama's art style more than the story and characters of Dragon Ball, and I actually got into some manga and anime after trying out the games based on them, like Kinnikuman and Garouden. But I'm interested in Dragon Ball Fighterz purely as a game. It looks amazing. Let's talk about how amazing it looks. It looks amazing.

My only worry is that there will be DLC and gameplay patches. If Arc can keep the momentum going without trying to sell the game with talk around those two vices I'm 99% sure I'm going to get the game somehow.

Sure, and I do like it a lot - we're seeing again and again arc knows how to hit the themes they aim for ... but if ever a game needed a sequel and a tidy up it'd be that one. And if they invested in a bit of a single player story or campaign... something scII style maybe...

but back on topic:

Dragon Ball Z is just a turn off. I just don't get it. In fact I pretty much actively despise it, and I'm pretty sure I resent it's popularity/influence. I'm not super into anime, but certainly liked a lot of what I saw before it all seemed to turn into BS ... was the kind of kid that got introduced by akira/ghost in the shell, wished gundam had gone more 8th MS-team-like, would have rather seen more devilman/north star, more robotech, or macross (did that series really die off after zero?), bebop ... less dbz/pokemon/yu-gi-oh/bleach/nuruto/gundam-whatever-the-silly-magic-kid-pilot...

So... probably not going to be a purchase ;) ... but yeah, despite the theme, can only look at arc system with admiration for their work.

Future Trunks is in the game. If he has his sword then Well he has he strap for the sword so I'm 99% sure he has it and will hopefully have a different playstyle from the rest of the cast because of it.

Game looks sweet. Just worried about the mechanics, I have never managed to master a ARC game.

Not really surprising, but I'm glad to see Piccolo is in the game.

Beta signups are live in Japan right now, but have been pushed in the US to the end of August. However, the beta in the US STARTS on September 16th - 18th. MvCI releases on the 19th. No way that was not intentional...
