New ARIKA EX game - Fighting Layer EX
Edit
----------
Now releasing 28/06/18:
http://www.arika.co.jp/product/fexl_hp/ ... l_eng.html
--------------
ARIKA posted an April fools video, showcasing what appears to be a WIP of a new fighting game based upon their own characters from the Street Fighter EX game series.
With that said, for now it is an April fools joke, but it is believed that they might try to find a way to bring this game out if funding is available.
I would love to see another EX series game, so am praying to various deities to make this so.

Re: Hoping for a new ARIKA EX game.
Arika had a stream on both Youtube and Niconico to demo the current build earlier today. Kazunoko was there to pull off 49-hit combos against anyone who was interested in trying it out. I don't know what event it was, but I picked up some info while watching:
-It was running on a PC. On bootup the screen said Unreal Engine.
-Unlike in SFEX and Fighting Layer, you can run. (sweeet)
-You can also sidestep, and the arenas come in different shapes and sizes. (sweeeeeet)
...I haven't been this excited for a new fighting game since SNKP announced KOF XII! Some people are calling this Fighting Layer 2 even though the project doesn't seem to have a name yet. Garuda, Kairi nor Hokuto were in Fighting Layer, so it doesn't really make sense. Also, some people also can't spell Arika. Eventhubs tagged the trailer under "other Capcom fighting games".

Re: Hoping for a new ARIKA EX game.
Nice!
The EX games were very underrated. Especially now in post SF4-5 hindsight. They were the most fun 3D rendered fighting games at the time imo.
I've fond memories of many nights playing EX2 with a group of friends. As it was a side series I just looked at it as a different game to SF2 and alpha series. Slower paced but more technical in some ways. And the best thing was it seemed much more accessible to non-SF players than the later main series games.
Not promising I'll play it, but I'll buy it.

Re: Hoping for a new ARIKA EX game.
I like the first game the most, because it has Allen Snyder. EX2 and EX2 Plus are also great games, even though they don't have Allen Snyder.
Very underrated, indeed. And the funny thing is how some ten years ago Capcom said that Arc Sys game them the idea of a 3D Street Fighter game with Battle Fantasia... really?

You're always drawn to the Dans.
SF4 and 5 definitely borrowed a lot from the EX series. The way the combos work, repeated cancelling, their practice modes feel just the same.

Re: Hoping for a new ARIKA EX game.
Allen Snyder is special! He has a command grab with no whiff animation, like T. Hawk in 2X. I also play Kairi and Garuda.
My hunch tells me the game is going to have a female Skullomania character too. I'm 100% sure about it. She's going to be called Skullo Love. Or Skullomatilda.

Hot Damnn!
First Geese in Tekken, now this.
This is shaping up great, loving the throwback music - SFEX had such a great soundtrack.

I bet we would have gotten TGM4 ages ago if it wasn't for the Tetris Companyorio1 wrote:TGM4 before another fighting game ...

There was another glimmer of hope a few months ago on the birdtwit , i'll never forget being late by 36hrs for the location test @Hey.
I was in Osaka on my way back to Tokyo ( Although I prefer Osaka over tetris ) ...

Actual gameplay footage. Instead of answers I now have more questions.. like what the hell happens between 02:52 and 02:55?

Hokuto could do with some varied "ow" samples.

Ow. So one of the decks has some ghost skill or whatever.. this kind of a game system doesn't really suit my fancy.

Played a few games of this at Evo this past weekend. Loved every bit of it. Wish I had more time to play, but was mostly busy. Can't wait for it to come out.
